Gave a C+. There's some picks I liked, there are some picks that I hated, but overall, I feel that we did what Gettleman said we were going to do.

Picks I loved:

Kony Ealy - I think that he's going to be a very good pass rusher in the NFL, and will take the spot of either Hardy or CJ next season.

Trai Turner - Dude is a legit starting RG today. He's definitely an upgrade over whatever other dude we were going to plug in there.

Picks I was meh on:

Kelvin Benjamin - I think he'll be a good NFL player, but has a ton of boom/bust potential. I think this is more in the "scares me" department.

Tyler Gaffney - I understood why we picked him, and I understand the situation as it is. I think now, though, DeAngelo is gone by end of Training Camp.

Picks I hated:

Tre Boston - Wtf. I still don't understand the pick, honestly. I mean, I know they're talking about moving Godfrey to CB (which, I don't think can happen, I think he's too slow and he's coming off an Achilles' tear). Even still, we have DeCoud, who can be a long-term solution, we have Lester, who appears to be a long-term solution, and we have Harper to help mentor Lester. I just don't understand it.

How can you grade the draft without having seen the results? Any grade given will be based on feeling. Earliest will be after preseason games IMO

I feel you have to give it 3 years before you really see what you got out of your draft.  whining about a player you've never seen play in the NFL before is first class sandy vag.

I gave the same grade, and felt that same on the players.  Maybe more of a like than love on Turner but still, very good analysis.

DE rotation is going to be HUGE. As RR and DG pointed out many times, it wasn't just that Star and KK were very good as rookies, its that our rotation allowed them to stay fresh. Our DE rotation is now probably the best in the NFL? QB's prepare thy anus.

Very true, but I still think our DB needs to be better.  We saw in NO last year what happens when our opponents O-line has a good night and gives their QB time.  Our front seven will be frighteningly good, but the DBs will have to show me something.

I definitely am not a fan of the Boston pick and I am not familiar with UNC football.

We brought in DeCoud, Harper, have Lester and Jones and if need be, Godfrey as solid enough depth if he had to make a change back to safety . Would have preferred more offensive line there.

I see the reasoning behind the Gaffney pick but dang, that is one crowded backfield now. Williams, Stew, Tolbert, Barner, and Gaffney. One of them is likely to get cut...probably Barner which means that pick last year was a waste and he should have never been taken in an already crowded backfield. I am hoping it means we part ways with DeAngelo before the season. Quite frankly I'd rather just roll with Barner, Gaffney, and Tolbert this season and in the future but those contracts are brutal.

I honestly don't think Barner is gonna get cut, we don't have a real kick returner on the roster without him, so he will be put back there and see at some point if he is a scat back.  Tolbert is a no brainer, and Stew can't be cut because of salary issues.  My guess is because they brought him in late, he is in a competition with D-will, if he even shows anything promising in the preseason, he makes the team and Deangelo is history because as a June 1rst cut, he saves the team 2 mil, and helps get some of the cap trouble taken care of down the line, freeing up money for Cam/Keek/Star down the line.  If Gaffney doesn't show anything at all, Dwill keeps his job, and we just move on him and hope he clears waivers to be a PS guy.  The person that people think we move away from is Barner, but I just don't see it because Underwood is a straightline guy and has little wiggle, Barner is the returning type and he will be used in that role.

C+

I LOVE the Turner pick.  It's my favorite.  Really like the Ealy pick.  Benjamin makes me nervous, but OK.  It was a need and he's a talented player.  Bene sounds like a decent fit, schematically.  The Gaffney pick appears to be Gettleman just throwing a dart.

The only pick I hated was Boston.

It will be Barner and Gaffney competing for one spot, most likely.  I'd prefer Gaffney because I think he has the ceiling of a Poor Man's Thomas Jones.  I don't believe Barner is worth crap and I think he showed that last August.

Rookies will struggle, especially if they are injured.  I didn't see much out of him, but he had very limited opportunities, and almost none in the return game because of Ginn owning that role.  I really feel that he will make the roster this year, he's cheap and useful, the combo of what Gettleman loves.
