Day 3 Draft thread

It isn't really about the player for me. It's about using our 6th in back-to-back years on the same crowded position. Doubtful we carry them all...thus one of them (Barner most likely) gets cut and the pick is wasted when other positions of need are starring us in the face.

There is no player left on the board that would have addressed a position of need. Those stopped being drafted about four hours ago. RB on the other hand can provide starters in the 6th and given that Barner looks the turd, Williams is gone after this season especially if he continues to regress and Stewart cares more about his cycling career than football, I think it's a viable selection. Would have preferred someone who has a rep for catching passes, but he pass protects and runs well. Solid pick at 204.

He restructured. We're stuck with him for a few more years.

Well, I guess we do need someone to keep the training staff busy for a few more years....other than that I have no idea why we would hold onto him with Barner riding the bench.. JStew will most likely never be the same back that he was in his prime..

If we just had Barner, Gaffney, and Tolbert going forward I would have been okay with the pick. Throw in Stewart and DeAngelo, at least for this year, and I don't understand the pick. Cross the bridge of drafting a RB when one of those two aren't actually on the roster. Dime a dozen.

Once again, why do you think that round 1-7 all need to be starters their rookie year? If Gaffney doesn't see the field except for ST this year, that's not a failure.  There are roughly 22 starting positions in football, why would you want 7 rookies starting?

Need as in depth. Depth is still a need all across our offensive line and receiving corps. We have plenty of depth at RB at least for this season. I would have been A-okay with depth at receiver, O-line, corner because we have so many unknowns there.

When did I mention starters? We have a serious lack of depth at multiple positions.

Why not cross that bridge when it happens? Both are on the roster now. We have other needs now.

Again, our "needs" aren't likely going to be filled by 6th round rookies. NFL rosters are currently carrying 90 players, which will be down to 52 before the season starts, going to find much more potential in those cuts then the bottom of the NFL draft, for immediate starting help at least.   Before last season who thought Wharton would be starting the majority of the season? We didn't pick him up til a month into the season.

Depth at offensive line, in the secondary, and at WR are also needs. More so than RB.
