A Theory on Gettlebro's Strategy for the Offensive Line.

i'm tired of this whole reaching talk because it makes it sound like there is some monumental disparity in the level of talent when there just isn't.

i'm also tired of the unreasonable bar of expectation there is for positions that we neglect to address. at this point i'm beyond expecting all pro talent at OT. the bar i have set is just improving upon what we have and the truth is there were choices available to us that would have upgraded, but we chose to go another direction.

is protecting cam important? let them prove it. so far they seem content to leave that job to scrubs and table scraps. we seem content to just hope that a starting caliber OT somehow falls to us as a udfa or miraculously gets cut and is somehow affordable.

i just like taking care of big problems, not pushing them to the back burner and hoping that maybe someday the solution just happens to fall in my lap...that is if i haven't deluded myself into believing there is no problem and ignore it.

I can agree with what your saying on principle, but it seems to me that DG just doesn't like the OT talent that's been available at our picks.  If that's the case, why would you expect him to draft someone that he doesn't like or doesn't feel that would fit his system here?

just because he passed over someone in a specific round doesn't mean that they didn't fit or he didn't like them.

it meant one of two or three things that i think maybe might apply for many options we bypassed.

1) there was someone that he liked more

2) he had unrealistic expectations for the position to warrant drafting

3) he doesn't think it's an issue that needs addressing seriously enough to warrant going out on a little limb.

there are other reasons, but just because we passed over someone doesn't mean that there wasn't ayone available who would have helped. it just means he decided to not take care of the very real need at OT, even though he had opportunity.

I would like to think that liking a player would factor in more than just if that player fit a need.  Not that I don't worry about the position mind you because it does need to be addressed in some way, but I do feel the reactions here are a bit overblown.

considering how important OT is and the lack of effort made to improve it, i think the reactions are warranted.
