The value of a top GM......this man knows his football

You know whats scary. Imagine trying re-sign Cam/Kuechly to future contracts with hurney running the show. You know he would have gave the Kraken a huge contract and would have signed all FA WR's that left during the offseason. Talk about being capped strapped!!!

all things equal keeping the team that went 12-4 together is not a real good argument against what Hurney, But all things are not equal.

And for good reason too. What do you think is the most important factor that gave us a 12-4 record? Front 7

Cam is good but the key of our team is DL and our LBs. Keeping teams around 15pts a game is what makes the panthers special.

who drafted this front 7 and would the old regime not have drafted Starr?

Marty left this team in great shape talent wise but was a terrible contract manager. DG is pretty good contract manager and so far he is looking good as a talent evaluater. Doesn't really surprise me since he has like 20+ years of scouting guys.

What I love is his overall strategy and vision.

He looks at this team in the big picture. 3, 5, 7 years down the line he is making sure that we are going to be good year after year. That is how you find long term success. Guys who look only at the next year will not find the same success as someone who plans for the future.

He also has great philosophies in terms of the Hogmollies, Defense first, big men win, cap management etc.

When you have a winning strategy like that it is hard to fail. He is also very tactful which are the individual moves you make to reach your overall strategy. Drafting, Free agents, Who to keep/release etc.

Laugh at his nipple shorts and his Boston drawl all you want, but this guy is the real deal. Between managing our cap mess and getting value out of every decision so far (Kug may be the exception, nobody's perfect)this guy has done in a couple of years what the previous guy couldn't do in ten. Some may cry that he didn't pick this guy or that guy,but all his picks are a piece of his strategy to make the Panthers a force to be reckoned with for years to come. No I am not kissing his ass, just stating the facts as I see them.He takes no crap and does what has to be done.We are lucky to have him.

The facts as i see them are that Cam Newton has the worst OL and WRs in the NFL and DG has used 2 draft picks in 3 drafts to address the problem. I get that Hurney left a cap mess and traded away a lot of future picks, but get your QB some help for crying out loud.

Would Gman ever.. EVAR... trade away a 1st for everette brown?  What became the 17th overall pick in 2010?

The stories go on and on, you guys all know them.  Those missed picks are like two punches each.  Year after year.   Let us not mention Marty any more.

you could make a strong argument that the reason we were one and done in the playoffs was a weak offense that couldn't put up enough points.
