You just have to trust what Gettleman says because he doesn't move on his philosophy as you already know..he's not just thinking about the 2014 Carolina Panthers, he's thinking about the Carolina Panthers.

 

Does thinking about the Carolina Panthers not include protecting your franchise QB, the most important player in the history of the team? Were we not division champs just last year going something like 10-1 or 11-1 to close out the regular season? We're rebuilding?

One of the announcers pointed out, and rightly so, that this is a business decision.  Hardy has the tag on him this season.  You've got to pay Luke and Cam right around the corner.  Keeping Hardy is not going to be an option financially.  Gettleman is working to get the Panthers back in decent shape regarding the cap.  I'm sure he's still planning on addressing the o-line situation.  This was value and looking forward financially, both smart moves.

It had better work. I think Ealy's gonna be just fine, but our offensive line is the worst in the NFL and is probably only top-3 in the CFL.

If he pans out, it will be the best pick of the draft for us. That's what it comes down to because a pass rusher is one of the most important positions in the draft
