A Few Surprising Names For Us

So, everyone expects us to get either an OT or a WR in the 2nd round. I think a lot of people could be surprised with a few picks that we could make. Here's a few names I think that Gettleman and Co. probably have on their board going into the 60th overall pick.

DeMarcus Lawrence, DE, Boise State

A jack-of-all-trades DE that really dominated the competition in Boise State. He can play a 43 DE, a 34 OLB, a sub-package rusher, pretty much anything really. He would also give us an option moving forward, while Hardy and CJ's contracts are both very much question marks passed this season.

Jace Amaro, TE, Texas Tech

I don't know if Jace Amaro will be on the board at 60, but he could last until then. I personally think Jace Amaro is the best TE in this draft, and that includes over Eric Ebron. Jace Amaro is a true pass catching TE, but he also has better blocking ability than Greg Olsen does right now. He would give Cam another option in our offense, to go along with the giant Kelvin Benjamin, and add to our red zone threats.

Kyle Van Noy, OLB, BYU

Van Noy is a very, very good prospect that projects to be a weak side linebacker in a 43. He's shown the ability to rush the passer, but where he shines in dropping back in coverage and recognizing plays. I would count on Van Noy to sit behind Davis for a year or two, coming in on sub-packages, and then taking over full time in the future.
