Let's Double Dip

I know the rest of our division is trembling right now at the sight of KB.  Let's make them quake with another threat in our second pick.  I imagine there will be a run on OT in the early and mid second.  I don't want to reach for a guy just because we have a need.  There's a great chance that Jordan Matthews could still be on the board when we pick again.  Some other guys that could be available are Allen Robinson, Donte Moncrief, and Bruce Ellington.  A guy like James Hurst, or perhaps Antonio Richardson should still be available by our third round pick.  The OT out of Stanford, Cameron Flemming, could also be available in the third.  So let's double dip.

It would be nice, but it depends on who is available.  I think KB though is a good start and from already hearing from a few Falcons fans this morning and one Saints fan at work, they feel as if we got another steal in round 1.  Feels good.

Their qbs cant throw from their backs

True. Tho I don't think the value for a T will be there for us in Round 2 (Hurst in 3/4?), and I think there will be a run on WRs early in the round. CB value might be there. If not, totally: let's double dip.

Is love to get either a true burner, speed guy or a smallish slot guy to pair with KB.

KB is a true outside vertical threat, Olsen, Cotchery and Avant can do about anything, I'd like a guy to either create more underneath space with his vertical speed or someone to take advantage of YAC possibility on short to intermediate routes.

If he's BPA sure. Otherwise I'd rather see a CB or tackle and get a development WR later. It's not like we run a bunch of four wide sets, so another rookie probably won't see much playing time anyway.

    • I think they are holding back to see what they have in the young guys, but I think it's a near certainty at some point they will bring someone else in. Right now (assuming we keep 5 CBs which is normal), the top 5 IMO are: 1) Jaycee Horn 2) Mike Jackson 3) Chau Smith-Wade 4) Shemar Bartholomew  5) Akayleb Evans   Obviously Jaycee is the alpha in that room and paid as such. Need him to stay healthy and continue to play at a Pro-Bowl level. Mike Jack did pretty well all things considered last year, and they gave him lower-level starter money. Fair deal for both sides.  Smith-Wade showed some promise as a slot CB. I think low-key he's a lock for the team. Different size and skill set than the other CBs. Shemar Bartholomew was the most sought after waiver claim last preseason. Was 5th CB most and inactive most of last year. Had a few defensive and ST snaps. Nothing of note good or bad but too small a sample size to make any judgment. Akayleb Evans was a 2022 4th Rounder for the Vikings. Has started 19 games (including Week 18 for the Panthers) in his career and played in 43. Was pretty good in 2023 before getting injured and falling down the depth chart last year. There's some other guys on the outside looking in, but until they show more in training camp I dont see anyway they make the 53. And only Jaycee, Mike Jack, and Smith-Wade are locks to make this roster IMO.
    • Was just reading the Ask the Old Guy story on the team's website and was shocked to see that only two 2nd Rounders have signed so far, 30 of them haven't. That isn't normal, the Texans really screwed things up for the rest of the league, no other explanation that I can think of for 30 of the 32 picks to still be unsigned at this point.
    • They need to address CB before season starts. This is not going to cut it.
