Keep Pounding

Looks like the middle finger? I don't think I've known anyone who tore that one. AFAIK they are all generally the same and will probably take a month or two after surgery before you can start bending it normally. Some people never lose the stiffness that comes afterwards. Hope for the best.

But that cut looks deep. Is there nerve damage too?

That's nasty...

I tore the one on TOP of my right ring finger... playing flag football when I was 19.  Tore it right out of the bone and it looked like this...

Had to wear a brace on it for 8 weeks and it works, but it's got a big bump on top and hurt like a bitch in rehab.

you'll probably have to ease back into that gradually.

I some surgery on my flexor tendon last year. Here's the short version (I think I shared this on this forum before maybe?):  A little over a year and a half ago I had a flexor tenosynvectomy surgery to clean out an infection I received from getting poked by a sea bass that summer. The infection was so massive it completely destroyed my tendon pulleys and part of my flexor tendon. So after 8 months of antibiotics and therapy, I had tendon pulley repair surgery, then another 3 months of therapy.

I currently have maybe 75% of my range of motion with that middle finger, and my hand has regained probably 90% of my strength.

So yeah not what you've got, but the best advice I can give you is get the best surgeon you can and therapist. And stick to the therapy.  I was extremely lucky that I didn't lose my finger.
