Potential Trade up to 19th Overall w/Miami

On NFL network yesterday I saw a mock on the bottom of the screen that had our 1st round pick going to Oakland. Did anyone see what the trade was supposed to be?

It didnt specify what picks would be traded but Mayock's mock draft predicted the Panthers to trade their 28th pick for more picks in the second or third round of the draft

There will be no one at 19 that would be worth trading our future. If anything trade down to the beginning of the second. We have several needs and a lot of guys questionable in the next few years. We need to stay put or trade down.

I will say though, if say Watkins was there at 19 and we could rob Miami somehow then i would be more willing. However, that will not happen.

I would love a trade up for Lee or Cooks.

If not, I would consider my boy Verrett or Benjamin at 28.

Other than that, I would trade down.

Teams trade up every year, teams trade their first away ever year, and teams continue to win. You guys talk about a winning mentality and don't know what one is. You need to be active in the draft, throwing away the idea of trading up or down without knowing who's even available is stupid.

The Seahawks traded away their first round pick last year and won the damn Super Bowl. Don't give me this mortgaging the future crap. Every draft isn't a good draft.

If Gettleman believes in his own words that you are never just one player away, then that player that would be drafted in the 2nd or 3rd isn't going to cripple you. It goes both ways, especially if you continue to win those picks become less and less valuable.

Gettleman has given every indication that moving up is something he'd have no problem doing.

Huddlers seem to equate anything that happened during Hurney's tenure and label it BAD and then take whatever the opposite of that might be and label it GOOD.

"Oh, Hurney traded up! We gotta trade down!"

Gettleman has already indicated he isn't as sold on the idea of moving down and in doing so, suggested he would be much more likely to move up. He has been all about value over acquiring a plethora of middling players who will compete for roster spots, as much as our forum is obsessed with them.

That said, I'm not sure if we have the ammo to do it this year. I'd be okay with our 1st and 3rd this year, though from strictly an entertainment standpoint I was looking forward to having a pick in every round for once.

If a GM is a bad ass...he can find gems at any spot in the draft. I'm not worried about picking at 28. We will find a good player without having to trade.

It's about finding good players who can contribute though, which is ultimately his number one priority. A trade up absolutely makes sense in our spot. Right now at 28 we will quite possibly be on the outside looking in when it comes to top players who can help the team, and surrendering what the odds say will more than likely be a nobody to ensure we get a top player is an absolutely reasonable maneuver.

I think giving up multiple first rounds is mortgaging your future, swapping first rounders and giving up a 3rd won't kill you.

I'm much more in favor of trading down if Lee or Cooks don't make it to us at 28, than trading up to get them. This draft is so deep at WR much rather take two later and see what sticks than bank my hopes on one

Yeah, let's trade our first away bc the Seahawks did it. After all, why can't we all follow the Seahawks model and have a bunch of late rounders turn into studs? Because, as Gettleman said regarding Cruz, "If we thought he'd be that good, we'd have drafted him earlier."

Jeez, you guys act like it's so easy when it's mostly luck lol.

Also, the 3rd round pick, especially this year, is a little more valuable than some of you seem to think. Once those compensatory picks start getting added in is where the value really drops.
