Potential Trade up to 19th Overall w/Miami

It says we are targeting Marquis Lee or Brandin Cooks at 19.

Miami interested in trading down from 19 if Zack Martin isn't there.. which I believe will be gone at 12 (NYG).

We'd have to give up a 2nd or 3rd rounder to jump 9 spots in the 1st round.

If we stand at 28, it sounds like Bitonio is our target.

What do you guys think?

All I'll say is, don't trust everything you read draft week. There's also been article saying we are open to trading down. Both beat writers think KB is one of the top guys they want. Point is, no one really knows except a select few. Everything else is speculation.

Doesn't seem like Gettleman's style

I agree completely.  While I'd love either Cooks or Lee on the team.. giving up a 2nd or 3rd rounder is too rich for the extensive needs that we have on this team.

No way we trade up into top 20. Only trade up I could see would be with the Browns at 26 if there's a WR we want and a QB they want. Give up only a 6, then the Saints can't steal our guy. But even that is unlikely.

This sounds like Miami floating rumors to raise trade value of their pick. If teams think the Panthers are moving to 19, suddenly the 4 NFC playoff teams (including the Saints) are on notice. Do you want to lose your guy to a fellow contender? Do you want to lose your guy to the team that stole the division from you? The team that sent you to Seattle?

It just sounds like typical draft noise to me.

As I said earlier. I love making the playoffs but it really does suck the fun come draft time when you have such a crappy pick like we do. I wish there was some kind of balance, like we go 9-7 every season, make the playoffs and still get a top 15 pick lol. Get best of both worlds. Still make playoffs while still getting a decent pick.

Honestly, out of Sammy Watkins and a few others, this draft seems to be filled with JAGs, doesnt seem like a big difference between 1st and 2nd rounds.

I understand how you feel about picking late but think it through....Do you want to make the playoffs and lose in the wild card every year? Draft position is part record but mostly based on how far you go in the playoffs.

I'm fine picking late, there are still lots of intriguing players on the board. To me drafting late sucks in the 2nd round when the last of the big names are scooped up and by the third you are taking players with big question marks.

It's frustrating to get a later pick though just because we got a bye and not because we went deep in the playoffs. It feels like we had the same level of postseason success as say, the Packers (since we were both one and done), but they pick 21st.

I know getting a bye week is huge, but still...doesn't change how people are going to perceive the postseason success/draft pick tradeoff.

    • Poor Bryce Life is just so unfair  sick of this justification  #1 picks  should be a bit more than a game manager and a ‘point guard’   Totally stupid take by the Panthers  Dont fret, he will have $38 million to make up for all the injustices he has endured  He, his family and agent, all were  also smart enough to fleece the Gm and owner of the Panthers  Bill Parcells said it best when said about Young as the number 1 pick given his ohysical limitations in a big man’s game  ‘he better walk in water’   He doesnt i want Josh Allen, not a point guard who cant see over the line and cant throw a 50 yard pass to the end zone  michah parson showed clearly what Young is  that Cowboys  defense had ZERO fear of Young’s arm   We have seen that since he has been here
    • I was out on him before we ever picked him and I'm still right. He should be traded in the offseason and his 'improvement' as remedial as it is should help with that is the positive. He isn't it and the growth is going nowhere. He doesn't have it and there isn't a team in the league that's talented enough to make him look good. Just because he isn't racing Russel for biggest bust ever doesn't change the fact of how bad he is and what his limited game he can play does to the offense. 2 years the opponents have played down to the Panthers and for 2 years that is a reason for false hope. And then games happen like on Sunday when a opponent shows up hurt and angry and shows the reality of the situation. It's a dead end.
    • Well I'm glad we can see eye to eye on that but it appears there are still other people not convinced. I see the Bryce situation as this. First season the team around him was bad. He was also quite bad too. Second season we went the extra mile and then some via steep investment in free agency and the draft to attempt to solve this dilemma and to the detriment of the defensive roster in the meantime. Now fast forward to 14 games into the season and we've spent a significant amount of discussion on both the defense that we put on the back burner for Bryce Young and the additions we brought in. Some of that is logical. But we have to circle back to where this all began. Bryce was billed as a franchise changing QB who would not need elite talent across the board. That cannot be stressed enough. So to me these discussions about his supporting cast or lack thereof eventually lead to me asking when does he begin elevating those around him instead of the other way around? That's what a first overall pick is supposed to do.
