"Quarterback is the strength of our team"...

Romo gets a bad rap in a lot of ways. Career 96 QB rating and 65 pct completion rate....not bad really. He's cost the team some wins but so has the coaching and management.

QB play is far from being the issue with that team.

Without Jason Witten he's stuck in the 70s

Here's my most favorite part...

"...Romo has progressed to the point where he can drop back and throw."

The surgery makes it less funny, but I just ignore the surgery aspect and imagine that Romo has finally learned to throw a football. Lol.

i hate romo by proxy because he's a cowboy and therefore an insufferable douche and i love to laugh at seahawks-cowboys playoff footage as much as anyone, but quarterback is the absolute last problem on that team. stick romo on any non-dysfunctional team and he might just have a couple of rings, or at least a much different rep.

Can't agree Phil.

I don't really think he's a douchebag, per se.  I just think he's a choke artist.

ehh, he's come up short in big situations, but half the time he's thrown for 500 yards and 4 tds and still is in the position where he has to win the game - that's a jerry-jones-run team coming up short, not tony romo

it kind of reminds of cam's rookie season when people kept questioning his clutchness because he "couldn't put together a game-winning drive drooooooooool" when in reality he led plenty only to have the rest of the team collapse

i'm not saying he doesn't choke, and i'm certainly not saying i like him, but i think a lot of the tony romo hate is misguided

Honestly I think he's Delhomme with a better supporting cast, but Delhomme was better in clutch situations than Romo's been.

(except that one time, of course) :(

...says Cowboys owner Jerry Jones

Let's read that one bit again, shall we...

This is the depth chart he feels is "the strength of the team".

Oy

After 2 back surgeries and Romo faltering year after year I would consider going Quarterback in round 2 if I were Dallas. Romo is also 34 years old. While he has moments he does choke quite a bit.

Hey let's be realistic. As long as Dallas is selling tickets that's all they care about. The Dallas brand.

Jones has said as much...

Romo is a decent QB, and he's mobile... He's got weapons but a shitty team around him...

He does not perform under pressure.

I talked to this dude in the gym today with a Panthers shirt on... Of course he asked me about Steve Smith... Then said "I'm not sold on Cam..."

What do you even say to that?

I said something like... "Well, I am..."

I don't get people.

I have an uncle who religiously bashes Cam. Says Derek Anderson should be the starter etc etc.

He then buys Redskins tickets and gets his grandson a RGKnee jersey.

I have had several small strokes conversing with this man about football.

QB is a strength for us.

Jones here says "the strength", not "a strength".  Now granted, I don't know how careful Jones generally is with his word selection, but taken at face value it would mean he believes that is their strongest, deepest position.

(on that point, I would beg to differ)

Jerry isn't exactly known as a good judge of talent despite his belief that he is a great coach.  Richardson calls him coach as a jab at his over involvement in the running of the Cowboys.  Given the scarcity of franchise quarterbacks I can understand why he is so supportive of Romo but he surely ought to be looking at who's next.  I figure he is going to draft one if someone falls far enough to be worth a pick.  He would be contesting for the third spot with Weedan.  Or at least the practice squad.
