Charles Godfrey Takes Large PAYCUT

From what I can tell this was not Godfrey doing anything for the team. This is what happens when a player has a devastating injury which essentially kills his value. The same thing happened with Beason. Look where he was with us and what he ended up with in New York. If Godfrey has a great year he is right in the mix again to earn his money or get a big payday elsewhere.

Did anyone not think this was going to happen?

Wouldn't he still be under contract with us, regardless of how he plays?

From what I've read, we could have done that already.

Forget who had it, but they reported that drafting at the 28th spot means our rookie pool was not going to be that large.

This is real money.

Recent reports have us at about 1.6-1.7 million before the pay cut, and it will take about 4 million or so to pay our rookies.  So we needed to make a move somewhere to pay them.  This cut alone may pay for them, allowing us to keep our cushion.

What's Howie gonna do? cut me with his hair?

Tie you to a chair and show you his movie clips.

Gotta remember Smitty was gonna give us another million in June even before this.

I'll see if I can find the source on that.

He's definitely going to get a shot at playing nickel, because at this moment we don't have one.

If the secondary plays up to their potential, they might not be awful.

SS: Roman Harper, Robert Lester

FS: Thomas DeCoud, Colin Jones

CB 1: Antoine Cason, James Dockery

CB 2: Melvin White, *Draft Pick*, Josh Thomas

NB: Charles Godfrey

I've seen worse.

Yeah I mean obviously it was this way or the highway for Godfrey.

Check out his original "6 years, $28.7 million" contract:

2011: $600,000

2012: $700,000

2013: $1.6 million

2014: $5 million

2015: $5 million

2016: $5.3 million

Gettleman probably showed him a chart with these numbers and Godfrey was all like

Indianapolis+Colts+v+Carolina+Panthers+L

and then Gettleman was all like

and Hurndog was all like

To funny...lol
