Charles Godfrey Takes Large PAYCUT

Trying to get Kraken signed? or are we saving this for Cam/Luke?

Thoughts?

Signing Kraken long term gives us more cap room. It doesn't hurt it. The cap # for a long term contract would drop from 13.7 million for 2014 to a more respectable figure. It depends on the signing bonus and years.

Restructure is not the same as an outright pay cut. Players do not lose money, they get more of it upfront.

They do if they see the writing on the wall.

"This is the contract we are offering. It is NFL vet minimum with the chance to earn much more by staying on the roster. Sign it or we cut you to market your Achiles injury to the rest of the league."

Its called 'between a rock and a hard place'.

"Charles, see this laminated roster sticking out of my jacked up shorts? See the category for 'Overpaid Hurney Bullshit'? It's time to chat."

PFT says Paycut

The latest is safety Charles Godfrey. According to Field Yates of ESPN.com, Godfrey has taken a massive pay cut, dropping his base salary from $5 million to $750,000. He can still make $1.7 million of it back in per-game bonuses.

Joe Person says "paycut" too.

If it's a paycut and not a restructure, then hell yes I'm on board with it.

Pay our rookies.

From what I've read, we could have done that already.

Forget who had it, but they reported that drafting at the 28th spot means our rookie pool was not going to be that large.

This is real money.
