the 2011 draft was so freaking bad

McClain and Fua basically were need picks, picks that Gettleman would never have made. DL has basically been almost completely depleted by that point in the draft. Even though it was highly touted as a great DL draft, in the end that can work against you to wait until later as everybody else cashes in on the talent. If you read my posts then you'd understand that in no way am i suggesting we should've picked a DL instead of Cam, but I'm wary of a similar situation happening with WR this year. Could be slim pickens by the third round.

Hogan, Pilares, Wilson, they were all nonsensical picks to me. Pilares probably would not have been drafted if we didn't take him and what the hell could you have possibly seen in a 225 lb linebacker that made you think it would make up for the lack of size where the big boys play. And of course to round out your 2011 draft you have your obligatory late round Hurney OL picks to go along with your mid round lousy Hurney DT prospect that will get shithoused pick

that offseason, i tried to tell people that when a draft is deep in a position of need that you pick as early as possible otherwise you're sifting thru trash.

i got blasted for it.

at least we didnt take Gabbert.  But Cam, AJ, Miller, Smith, Quinn, Wilkerson Jones and Peterson plus some other real stars in that draft.  Was definitely defense-heavy.

Forgot Watt and Dareus :P

That was easily the most talented-loaded 1st round in probably the past decade.  Theres gonna be a few HoFers in there.

Still like Pilares. I think he has a ton of untapped potential as a real lowkey playmaker in the NFL.

Was always a Pilares fan as well. Get the feeling he won't beat the three FAs we signed though. Or a high rookie selection (or two). Which leaves him as a KR/5th WR at best over McNutt and King.

Yeah, doubt he can make the team. It says something about him that they've gone out of their way to work these loopholes to keep him on the squad though. Must be a hard worker.
