Panthers making last minute trip to see Allen Robinson.

I am a proponent of Robinson and agree that he can run a full route tree, however, the tape I've seen of him, he does run a lot of bubble screens and smoke routes that he utilizes his YAC ability. That's not to say that the kid can't run all of the routes, but I don't think he was asked to as much at PSU. Regardless, I'll take him at 28 and be very very happy going to bed Thursday night.

I think the bubble screens was more due to a weak supporting cast (Qb, Oline) making getting ball to your best play maker a must. No matter how you do it.

To be honest, I don't see how Robinson doesn't impress you.  I can see how you might like other guys more as a personal preference, but looking at him in a vacuum, Robinson is quite impressive, IMO.  He has great size, good speed, is quick and very shifty -- especially for such a big guy, he has great vision once he gets the ball in his hands (which contributes to his exceptional RAC), he has great hands, has an amazing vertical and high points the ball with the best of them, he also has very good body control and adjust to the ball.

To be honest, I don't see a major flaw in his game.  He has everything you look for in a WR, and his RAC is elite.  He is also reportedly a good kid who would have stayed at PSU if O' Brien had stayed.  I really don't understand why he isn't talked about more...especially when the biggest flaw that is mentioned is long speed, which isn't bad.  I just think he isn't very flashy, and that's what the analysts like to talk about.

alright. ive been convinced. if the FO takes him, i'll trust the decision. lol.

he could have suspended for being late to a meeting. that is not a big issue, compared to getting arrested and consistent issues with the coaches. honestly BOB could have been making a point for the rest of the squad by benching his best player.

Boston Herald yesterday:

"The Pats still have a need for a playmaker, and Robinson not only fits the bill, but already has a pretty good grasp of the system.

Robinson spent the past two seasons playing for former Patriots offensive coordinator Bill O’Brien at Penn State in a pro style offense with a lot of similarities to the one Brady runs in Foxboro. O’Brien even gave Robinson tapes of some former Pats receivers to study..."Coach O’Brien had clips of a lot of Patriot guys," Robinson said

...

With that in mind, he might be on the Pats radar. They met with him before his pro day. Robinson believes he’d have a leg up if selected by them or the Texans.

“It would be a much smaller learning curve offensively, knowing what they do with coach O’Brien, and even with the Patriots,” Robinson said. “It’s a very versatile offense. You have a quick pass game, an intermediate pass game, and a deep pass game. Those were the concepts. You attack every level of the field. I’m definitely comfortable playing in that offense.”

...

‘‘With him, you like the size, you like his ability to go down the field in traffic. When he’s one-on-one with the corner, he’s going to outduel that cornerback. He did that time and again this year,” ESPN draft analyst Mel Kiper said of Robinson in a recent conference call.

...

“If you get him in the third round,” Kiper said, “I

think you get some value there.”

Third round? Wtf

Mayock's top 100 that he released today has Robinson at #77 (which would be the 13th pick of the 3rd R)

Fanspeak's big board has him at #54

USA Today at #49

NFP's has him at #45

CBS has him at #42

Walter Football at #41

SI has him at #32

former NFL scout Russ Lande:

Lande sees Robinson as a likely first-rounder who has done enough to downplay concerns about his speed. Lande gave Robinson an 85 percent chance to hear his name called in the first round

...

“Scouts, when they watched the film of Robinson, they loved what they saw,” Lande said. “They saw a kid who had natural hands, could win the jump balls, was dynamic in terms of getting up the field after the catch, breaking tackles and making big plays. But they even question, does he have elite speed or is he just an average guy?”

...

“I think teams that had concerns about speed are at least saying, ‘You know what, we have no doubt he’s at least average.’ If he’s average in speed, all the other attributes are outstanding. He’s going to be a first-round pick.”

a Cleveland Browns blog community mock had the Browns taking Robinson at #26 as the 5th WR taken after Watkins, Evans, Cooks, Beckham

"We've had to watch Greg 'Stonehands' Little for too long now, and with the recent run on WRs, I felt like this was the way to go. The WR depth in this draft is outstanding and there's a number of good WRs likely available at the end of round 1, but after seeing Robinson first hand for the past couple years, I couldn't pass on the chance to get him in Brown and Orange ... I'd expect Robinson to beat out Little and Burleson in camp, and there's no way we go more than halfway through the season without him taking over the #2 WR spot. He would be the perfect compliment to Gordon. He's big, strong, a good run blocker, and with a 39" vertical he attacks the ball at its highest point. If he starts the season, I imagine he'll get about 650-750 yards receiving. It's nothing crazy to expect out of a rookie ... I actually expect him to have a DeAndre Hopkins type impact

...

Let me just say, I would be one happy Browns fan going into next season with a 1-2-3 punch of Gordon, Cameron, and Robinson."
