Panthers making last minute trip to see Allen Robinson.

To be honest, I don't see how Robinson doesn't impress you. I can see how you might like other guys more as a personal preference, but looking at him in a vacuum, Robinson is quite impressive, IMO. He has great size, good speed, is quick and very shifty -- especially for such a big guy, he has great vision once he gets the ball in his hands (which contributes to his exceptional RAC), he has great hands, has an amazing vertical and high points the ball with the best of them, he also has very good body control and adjust to the ball.

To be honest, I don't see a major flaw in his game. He has everything you look for in a WR, and his RAC is elite. He is also reportedly a good kid who would have stayed at PSU if O' Brien had stayed. I really don't understand why he isn't talked about more...especially when the biggest flaw that is mentioned is long speed, which isn't bad. I just think he isn't very flashy, and that's what the analysts like to talk about.

I agree with everything you've said..If his supporting cast wasn't so freaking terrible I swear he'd never fall to us at 28. His QB was one of the if not the worst of all the top WR prospects and that o-line was absolute poo. The QB had to pass out of designed roll outs half the time and Robinson ended up having to work his way back to the QB several times.

I could go on and on about him, not sure why he's not ranked higher by the experts.

A phrase to note from his NFL.com draft profile (link)

Executed a full route tree in a pro-style offense. Highly productive...

Put that together with Gettleman's comments about receivers (link)

Finding receivers who can run the entire, nine-pattern “route tree” is becoming more difficult for NFL scouts because of the proliferation of spread offenses in college football. Gettleman said one of the receivers in this year’s draft, whom he did not identify, ran only four routes in college.

“I look at a guy and he’s caught (90) balls. I put the tape on of every ball thrown to him. Of those 90, 45 were flash screens. The other 45 he caught, he ran to three spots,” Gettleman said. “So, do they understand coverage? They’re going to have to learn the whole route tree. How long is it going to take them to assimilate?

“That’s why we spend as much time with these kids on the road, bringing them in, to figure that out.”

^^ This!!  Well said, sir.

I too think he could be the man at 28 if Latimer and the OT they want is off the board.  I really think the Panthers desire was for Cody Latimer and as they fell in love with his tape, others above them did as well.  Feeling that Latimer, who they want, won't be there, they take a guy with similar traits that can be a WR1.

I am a proponent of Robinson and agree that he can run a full route tree, however, the tape I've seen of him, he does run a lot of bubble screens and smoke routes that he utilizes his YAC ability.  That's not to say that the kid can't run all of the routes, but I don't think he was asked to as much at PSU.  Regardless, I'll take him at 28 and be very very happy going to bed Thursday night.

I think the worst case scenario with him is you get a more talented version of Muhsin Muhammad.

Go and get a super speedster next draft and along with Jason Avant you've essentially rebuilt the 2003 receiving corps.

Not only can he run the full route tree, he routinely beat press coverage.Has an amazing double move that Stanley-Jean Baptiste witnessed first hand, and as already mentioned earlier his field vision is incredible. He knows how to find holes in the zone and knows the right angles to take to rack up yards after the catch(Ohio state game might be the best example of this). His vertical is very impressive (39 at the combine,42 at pro day). He can not only win jump balls but I've seen numerous occasions where he caught passes while being and held and interfered with.

His only knocks are he's not a straight burner and isn't the best blocker but he is willing.

I think this is because of 2 reasons. 1. He can make things happen with the ball in his hands so why not?

2. His QB and offensive line sucked so sometimes that was the only way to get the ball to him
