Panthers making last minute trip to see Allen Robinson.

Drafting this guy in round two would be perfect, but if we don't get him we could always go after a guy like Jordan Matthews.

will be interesting to see how the draft goes with such a deep WR class. in a normal year I would happily take a guy like Robinson/Latimer/J Matthews at #28 and a guy like Paul Richardson or Jared Abbrederis at #60. But this WR class is deeper than a normal year so it will be interesting to see how it goes down

49ers blog did a community mock having us selecting Allen Robinson at #28 as the 5th WR taken after Watkins, M Evans, Cooks, and Beckham (Marqise Lee fell to the sixth pick of 2nd R - #38, I hope we pass on Lee too). They had us taking OT/OG Billy Turner at #60 (Moses went #32 to Russell Wilson's Seahawks, Kouandjio went #34 to RG3's Redskins, Bitonio went #53 as value signing for team that could use depth at guard/center and possibly a new starting center. The only other OL gone at #60 were Matthews, Robinson, Lewan, Martin, Sua Filo)

The guy playing our GM explained:

"The Panthers have 3 glaring needs on their roster...WR, OT, and CB... This means getting value at every pick is important for Carolina if they want to remain successful.

...

I get the feeling that some people are going to be left wondering how I don't take Morgan Moses (at #28)... but felt the need to include him as an alternate because he may be a guy the team considers. If I'm the Panthers and OL is my number one priority, I'm drafting Xavier Su'a Filo out of UCLA with what's available (Filo went #31 to Peyton Manning's Broncos). This is a guy who possesses great athleticism and opened up holes all year for the Bruins.

...

All things considered, I envision Allen Robinson as a Pro Bowl caliber player and this is why he is my selection for the Carolina Panthers at 28th overall.

...

Cotchery hasn't recorded a 600+ yard season since 2009 and Avant has never surpassed 680 yards in his 8 year career. Cam Newton will need someone a little more reliable and for years to come.

At 6'3 209lbs, Robinson has the elite physicality you look for in a true No. 1 receiver....His quickness in and out of routes is what separates him from a guy like Kelvin Benjamin. Robinson also boasted one of the better vertical jumps at the combine. When you look at the average NFL CB standing at 5'11 and see a guy like Robinson standing 6'3 with a 39" vertical, it's hard not to gush over the possibilities. Aside from his physical attributes, Robinson has shown he can make the game saving play on big stages with his late-second catch against then-ranked No. 18 Michigan.

...

(regarding Turner at #60), he does a decent job of creating a pocket for the QB to step into and throw... he's got quick feet and great ability on getting to the 2nd level and outside on swing blocks...He may not be as big as you would like, but he'll only grow stronger as he gains more experience in the league.

In the selections since drafting Allen Robinson, 6 more receivers have gone off the board but only 4 more offensive linemen. This makes securing a WR first and OL 2nd seem like a better value strategy over drafting Moses in the first and then a WR in the second. If Carolina follows a similar strategy on draft day I think they will end up with one of the better draft grades this year."

Then they had a 2nd guy comment on the picks of Robinson and Turner to the Panthers and he wrote:

"The Panthers receiving group is the most underwhelming in all of football at the moment and Cam Newton needs a lot of help. Receiver will be the choice for the Panthers in round one and I love the choice of Robinson. His film is great and would provide Newton with an option that has the combination of height and speed. To go along with those attributes Robinson is hard to take down after the catch and has reliable hands. I expect Robinson to go in this range, maybe slipping into the second. If it wasn't for the uncertainty of CB Chris Culliver's legal troubles, I would have loved for the 49ers to draft Robinson. Good pick

...

(regarding Turner at #60), the Panthers could also choose to look for a cornerback here, or even another receiver, they need more help at both positions.... (but the) Panthers desperately need offensive lineman. Turner won't be ready to start from day one, as making the leap from 1-AA football to the NFL is usually a tough transition. With that said, he's an intriguing choice because of his big frame at 6'5" and 315 lbs. If he gets a bit stronger and improves on his technique."
