I just can't believe my company wouldn't want engineers working high. Those bastards and their 10 panel and hair follicle testing. What's next? The company physical I take every couple years?

but but but why not build bridges (or whatever you do...lol) high? They are infringing on your right as a person to be high all the time. You have insomnia dammit. Oh and you get headaches. And sometimes you are nauseous.

It is only pot.

You're missing the concept here, what he's trying to say is that the drug testing policy is in place as a way of protecting themselves from any liability, not that they actually care about people smoking cannabis.  It's all about profits and limiting liability.  That's why large corporations are mostly guaranteed to do preemployment drug testing, while smaller "mom and pop" type operations usually require limited drug testing. Both sectors will do drug testing if it will save them money and liability.  If any of you non smoker's really had a clue as to how many people you deal with on a regular basis that do in fact smoke, you'd be blown away.  If you've eaten at a restaurant, had home repairs or remodeling done, had an IT guy come and fix your computer, there is probably a 75% chance a smoker was involved, and he might have even been high while he was doing it.

You are assuming they don't care....which is no more accurate than my statement that they do care.

Aren't you missing the concept that it is a policy? And if you want to work for said company you should adhere to their policies?

And you keep bringing up totally unrelated people doing unrelated jobs while high. No one said you couldn't do certain jobs while high, but there are other jobs that should not be done while under the influence. Such as driving a car, which will inevitably be part of a job selling cars.

This is the simple aspect of the arguement that many idiots in this thread do not get.

Car salesmen have to drive the cars at times.....therefore it is DAMN likely that the owners of the dealership fuging care about drug use.

Between this thread arguing about how great smoling weed is.....18 pages on how to be a drug test....threads on how much of a waste of money a college degree is....numerous threads on how the min wage should be $15 an hour.....it is no wonder that most posting in the TB are a bunch of underachievers.

It depends on the test that they conduct, which you have no way of knowing, as to whether or not the wife being pregnant matters. I had a friend who was diagnosed diabetic because of the sugar level in his urine as a result of a drug test, and they recommended he go to a doctor.

And I did not start being condescending until he started acting like a complete douche.

And if you really were reading the entire thread as you claim, it was not about the pot. It was about making good choices when it comes to providing for his family. Smokiing pot on the way to take a drug test to get a better job, is not a good choice, no matter what your stance on pot legalization is.

The only thing I said was that I was smart enough to figure out how to pass a drug test (which BTW consisted of drinking about 2 gallons of water a day the weekend before the test and spending the weekend pissing) without soliciting help from strangers.

I think it might have been a while since you had to fake a drug test.  You can pretty much tell by what job you are going to test for whether or not it's serious enough to be sent off to a lab for GC/MS analysis, which is obviously what happened to your friend.  A standard piss test for most of your every day jobs, such as selling cars, will not be sent through GC/MS analysis, it's an extra expense that most companies with hourly employees don't want to spend.  If however you suspect that your job might actually be of a serious nature, then you have to assume a GC/MS will be run, and plan accordingly, either with fresh gender specific clean urine, or the synthetic urine that contains urea, so that it will not show up as synthetic urine.  Hair follicle tests will require the special shampoos, and that is even a hit or miss on whether you will pass.  For a mouth swab, it's as simple as refraining from cannabis for a day, staying hydrated, brushing your teeth well, and swishing with alcohol based mouth wash prior to your test.  If you are prepared then smoking on the way to your drug test really doesn't matter, I personally wouldn't do it either, but that wasn't the only decision people were bashing him for, the biggest complaint was the fact that he was going to fake his drug test.

In the case of a simple dip strip, drinking a fugton of water will pass, as long as the person giving you the test doesn't reject it for looking like water, but for a GC/MS analysis you will fail for a "diluted sample" , just ask Mettenberger lol.  You can't actually flush your system clean like that, as the thc is stored in the fat cells, but it will flush the hell out of your kidneys.

No, because the argument he is making  wasn't about whether or not the policy existed, but more so about why the policy existed.  Keep bringing up?  You mean the one sentence I said about "If you've eaten at a restaurant, had home repairs or remodeling done, had an IT guy come and fix your computer, there is probably a 75% chance a smoker was involved, and he might have even been high while he was doing it." Yes, there are certain jobs that you shouldn't be high while doing.  Flying a plane, heart surgery, and working at daycare are all good examples, but selling cars doesn't fall anywhere in the same league of responsibility.  You used to smoke, unless you've been hitting the government kool aid too hard, you should be able to remember that driving while high really isn't the same thing as drinking and driving.  And for what it's worth, I had a friend that worked a car lot, didn't even have a license for the longest time, he had people go on his test drives for him and still made a decent living.

Exactly, if you can assume that they do care because a corporate policy suggests so, then we can just as easily assume the policy is just to cover their corporate asses.  When you've had people higher than you on the corporate ladder, and I mean HIGHER in more ways than one, then it stands to reason that the drug testing policy in place is just for corporate business reasons and not the personal views of a few higher ups.

If I have an oops it's normally millions of dollars lost. Thankfully I don't like to be in an office so exploration isn't my deal. But they won't let me work on the floor of drilling rigs anymore. Supposedly I'm too valuable if I get hurt.

And you are showing your age.  When you were coming up the American Dream still existed and was a reality, someone could work their way up the ladder and make a decent living in the middle class. Now the corporations run America, and their only goal is to profit, the rich keep getting richer while the poor keep getting poorer.  The middle class is dwindling away.  Some people actually fall into the socioeconomic level where you can't get any of the government assistance for school, but it's getting so expensive that you can't afford it yourself without taking out loans and being in debt until you are 35.  But without that schooling you can't get the jobs that pay well enough.  It's a vicious circle for the "middle class".

That was more of a "royal you" than specifically "you" you. It was not the first time that it had been brought up.

And unless you are administering the test, you really have no way of knowing what type of test they are going to be administering. So it is always better to assume that it is the strictest one, to ensure that you pass.

Don't have time to read the ridiculous amount of pages here but.....

FROM PERSONAL EXPERIENCE, not some bullshit story my buddy told me

Strip NC

at least 48 hrs before (2 days)

tastes like crap, and you have to drink a boatload of water (as you would have to with any detox stuff)

Totally worked, I passed a LabCorp drug test that was for a job at Wachovia back in the day.

When I bought it, the guy at Infinity's End told me it's the only one where they've never had anyone come back and say it didn't work.

worked like a charm!

If you're going to the head shop to buy it, make sure you don't say Detox drinks. Its like water pipe and bong.

It's a good point that almost needs it's own thread. Without my gi bill and my company paying off my loans I wouldn't have gotten through school for less than $100k
