Let's see which armchair GM's admit being wrong.

WOW!!

before and right after luck decided to go back to school i was firmly in the "scam can't run a pro offense lol laptop his dad is going to be headed to the pawnshop with the BCS trophy when nobody's looking" etc. camp.  that morphed in to not wanting a quarterback at all and believing that we should pursue david garrard, billy volek, or possibly even donovan mcnabb to hold it down for a season or two and pick up aj green, peterson, or dareus with our pick.

i started to change my mind around the time of the public workout.  if it wasn't obvious enough already, you could see that he was an absolute freak and had a cannon of an arm that could make any throw on the field.  by the time the draft came around i was ready for the cam newton era to begin.

I remember when cam was drafted a bunch of stupid people threw a fit and said they weren't panther fans anymore and then they were back like 2 weeks later

That was so ridiculous. Guys were like "I'm sorry I just can't be a fan of any team he is on"

Most came back, but some were never heard from again

I hated the Kuechly pick in 2012, for about 20 minutes. Thought he was the quintessential Hurney pick: not a leap of faith, not going all in, didn't address a need safe pick like Jonathan Stewart or Jon Beason. If we didn't spend years making those safe picks I would have been fine taking Kuechly from the get go, but any argument over how he was overrated in college was a rationalization to justify not picking him because I really didn't want us to draft another player at a position easy to fill that wasn't addressing a need, and when hurney was GM, it's not like any of the needs you saw apparent in December would be filled in free agency.

I reacted to that the same way I've reacted to every draft pick the Panthers have made I haven't liked.

Get on board and hope for the best.

I know I found armstead first on this site. he can actually play LT. i guess its the hip thing to say an ot will have play guard or right tackle during draft time.

umm I was high on patton later but terrance Williams was my first wr i was crazy about.

i wasn't crazy about allen but i liked him better than Austin ad Patterson. a few people might remember my assault on Austin...look like i was right. lol

i liked Xavier Rhodes the most but also liked desmond trufant. both were great. liked slay to but he was up and down. liked banks a bit.

loved larry waford and he went on to be the best guard.

liked m.Goodwin,Dobson,Rodgers as wr. wasn't impressed with Hopkins but thought he was a 2nd rounder.

agreed to take star if he fell to 13. also liked k.short a lot. Brandon/slyvester Williams to as dt.

wasn't impressed with Kenny Vaccaro.

liked Jordan mills and long who did great on the bears o-line.

liked jonathan cyprien, shamarko Thomas, b Rambo and shawn Williams as safeties.

mention kenjon barner as a pick but later liked kniles davis and Christian Michael better. thought jonathan franklin was the best rb. liked lacey but was not impressed.

i thought manuel and bray was the best qbs. also thought matt scott could be great.

like o-lineman like dallas Thomas, brennan Williams,j.pough, and omeregie uzzi.

wanted joseph fauria as big te redzone guy. dude had like 7 tds for lion and went in the 5 -7th round......smh also liked Mychal rivera and chris gragg.

liked ansah but didn't want him cause i thought hardy was a beast along with cj.

liked t.king and Melvin white and they happen to be on the panthers.lol

this just the most recent draft...just to keep things current and relevant. i told the truth...you can look up my old post if you think im lying.

Hated the Cam pick because I didn't think he was much of a passer, more of a runner. Hated Kuechly because Hurney collects LBers like Pokemon. I have eaten my crow over both of them, and am so incredibly happy that I was wrong.

Unlike many Huddlers, I always hated Clausen. I hate him less now that he isn't playing. I never thought he would amount to much but at the same time, I understand the crappy situation he was thrown into. He took his lumps with his head high, and I respect him for that.

I didn't really start following the draft intently until the year we drafted Stewart. So since then, the only person I was really high on that we picked was probably Lafell, and I guess Otah, but who wasn't? The guy was a beast when healthy, just lazy.

I'll do this for all of the years that I've actually actively followed the draft and had a rooting interest in certain players.

2006 - Thought Matt Lienart was going to be a star. I was glad we got Deangelo.

2007 - Thought Jamarcus was going to bust but Brady Quinn would be a star. I remember wanting Greg Olsen over Jon Beason but I loved our entire draft that year.

2008 - Wanted Ryan Clady.

2009 - Really loved Hakeem Nicks and Kenny Britt. Didn't care about Everette Brown either way

2010 - Hated pickles from the start. Fans getting hyped made me some around on him though. I knew we needed a QB and at the time I thought The Golden Calf of Bristol was going to be the guy. I wanted Terrance Cody though.

2011 - At first I wanted AJ Green but after it became obvious we were taking Cam I fell in love with him.

2012 - Didn't care about Kuechly either way. I remember not believing the reports that we were drafting him though. I wanted Blackmon or Cox

2013 - I wanted Sheldon Richardson or Tavon Austin. I was very happy with Star though.

I didn't like the Cam pick at all, I was hoping they would take Marcel Dareus number 1 lol. I also loved the Joe Adams pick, I loved the Kugzilla pick too but the jury is still out on that kid

yea i don't know if it was because i wasn't on this board or reading this board at the time to get other opinions or more info but i wanted Cam from day 1. i remember watching him at Auburn and thinking this was the greatest college football player i have ever seen. And I knew we finally had a great chance at a franchise qb.

i was watching the draft with a group of 5 or so panther fans and 1 falcons fan. the look on my falcon friends face when Cams name was called said everything (his younger brother played against Cam in HS). He was terrified.

Disliked the Luke pick and hated the Amini and Clausen picks. My girl went to school with Cordy at Riverdale high and they were good friends. I remember telling her at the time she was going to have to become a Panthers fan because were about to get her boy. Didn't turn out that way, we passed on him, and I thought all was lost on getting her to become a Panthers fan. I raged after that pick.

Was down with Cam from the start. Loved the pick and knew he'd be a star.
