Panthers director of college scouting Don Gregory believes "capable" starting receivers can be as found as late as the fourth round

absolutely ben saying this for while now. This is why I think we can look to other positions early like CB as depth there is no where near what it is @ wr and if we get a CB it needs to be of starting quality as we are already stocked with backup CB's.

OT is a little deeper but still not as deep as wr. i see no reason why we can't go other positions early and get 2 good wr's in this draft.

Allen was taken in the third last year, the round you are drafted in doesn't mean much. Ask Tom Brady. If a 4th rookie is starting at wr it's probably bc he worked extra hard and showed the coaches he deserves to start. I don't really care what round our number 1 wr is drafted in as long as we get one.

apparently only idiots think you can get starting caliber production out of wide receivers selected outside of the first round, especially in an exceptionally deep draft

yet

all the armchair GMs on this board lost their minds when kawann short was selected in the second instead of keenan allen because he would have been a day one game changer for us

wrap your head around that one

Keenan Allen was only drafted in the 3rd round because of an injury that healed slow.

This particular point, the one about KA, needs to be vetted just a bit.

Yes, he dropped, but I don't think that he would have been nearly as successful on most of the teams in the league.

Rivers, much like Brady, has a tendency to make his WR's look really good.  It may be the system (although that changed from Norv's), I'm not really sure what it it, but that team, and QB make WR's look better than they really are.

Outside of Vincent Jackson, (later round guy, and really rough coming out) Rivers has thrown to a bunch of scrubs.  Nannee, Seyi, Floyd, Alexander, etc...

I don't think that Allen would have excelled as much in another system.
