Dark Horse Candidate at 28: Xavier Su'a Filo

Recommended Posts

The key to that hypothetical, though, is that Su'a Filo is immediately Steven Hutchinson or Larry Allen. What are the chances of that happening? The chances that he is immediately even an average guard, heck, even a starter on this team, are not very high.

My argument was more in tune with the fact that he asked if I would trade a first round for the best guard in the NFL. So, I was saying, would I trade a first round pick for a player of the quality of Larry Allen or Steve Hutchinson? Yes, I would.

Redskins blogger:

"Su'a-Filo may be one of the safest players in this draft. He should become a very good starting guard for years to come in the NFL. He's one of a handful of players who comes with very little question marks. He's as solid as they come."

"This kid Su'a-Filo is an impressive specimen," said NFL Network's Mike Mayock.

NFL Network's Daniel Jeremiah: "He's quick, agile and nasty," Jeremiah tweeted. "Excellent on pulls and pass pro."

Matthew Fairburn of SB Nation:

"As UCLA fans know, Su'a-Filo's biggest contribution to the Bruins' running game came in his ability to pull all the way across the line of scrimmage and make blocks on the move. In this aspect of his game, Su'a-Filo's technique is picture perfect. He gets off the line of scrimmage in a hurry and gets across the line without any hesitation or wasted movement. That's why at times he was able to make it all the way outside the opposite tackle box on running plays. ...He almost doesn't look like a guard when he's moving."
