Beason out - Conner in - Diggs in trouble?

So Beason is hurt and Conner is playing with the first team. My question is, now that he is getting more looks, do you think that he is now indirectly pushing Diggs for is starting spot? Or is Diggs to entrenched and Johnson firmly behind him.

Now Im not nearly as big of a Conner fan as most people out there, but his scouting reports were very positive and now having watched from the side lines for a year this may be his chance to show what he can do against the 1st team and impress coaches.

Thoughts?

I'd have to say Diggs is fine. If Thomas Davis went down and they replaced him with conner that may spell more trouble for diggs if conner could prove he could thrive at olb. conner IMO is just the new adam seward

don't do that to Connor...he could have been the one of the biggest steals of that draft. Let's wait til he gets a chance to prove what kind of LB he is.

Connor is getting work because Beason is hurt. This will help him and develop our depth. I doubt Diggs is in trouble but it doesn't mean Connor won't get more time this year at one or more positions given that Diggs is getting older and is not the long term solution. We need to get Connor in the game and use him for backup as well.

I did'nt mean that in a bad way. I actually liked Seward while he was here. I just think Connor is more suited to play MLB vs. OLB...hence making him the backup to Beason

Johnson's in trouble, I don't really think diggs is.

Every year people think he's old and washed up and every year he outplays everybody.

:iagree: Diggs is a freak he even played ST last year while holding down a starting pos. As long as he can do that there is no reason to think he will lose his place.

god damn what does Diggs have to do to get some respect around here

im not saying that Diggs is a bad player, obviously he beat out Johnson last year and this time last year we were claiming to have the best LB'ers in the game with Johnson, TD and Beason.

BUT with an opportunity to start on the 1st string, and given that Diggs has coverage trouble, and that we are going to be playing most players in cover this is Conners chance to show that he could be on the field. And out of all staring Lb'ers Diggs in the weakest. Thats my point.

Diggs does his job.

I don't understand the obsession some have of wanting All-Pro's at every position

Nice YES

Realistic NO

Beason & Davis are All-Pro Players

Diggs is a hard working support player

Connor is a young LB thats getting exposer in camp that will help him down the road.

i love diggs but he's not gunna b a long term player for us..as long as he can still play at the level he's at keep him in there...but we need to get connor in at OLB so he get's the experience when it's time for diggs to step down

yea true, but we have a backup plan for Diggs with Johnson, if Connor moves outside, who is the backup plan for Beason.?. who by the way is fighting a few minor injury bugs himself.

do you know the difference between different linebacking positions, the physical requirements, and what makes a good OLB vs. a good MLB?

i swear to god next time I get drunk I'm going to make a huge thread where I explain the differences between technique d linemen and position linebackers because this poo is ridiculous

    • yeah. winter backpacking trips were the most miserable and amazing experiences. same with the coldest and snowiest hunting  experiences. i love being in it. makes for incredible memories. the worse it was, the more i ended up loving it. made the greatest memories.  i just want to get out of it afterwards.
    • I forgot about Jackson...definitely elite.  The sad part of your list is that 2 of them were 'there for the taking for the Panthers'.  Rumor has it that Hurney loved Herbert and was vetoed on trying to trade up.  And rumor has it that Frank & McCown wanted Stroud.  I believe both rumors.
    • I went on a solo elk hunt in the Flat Tops. It was awesomely miserable. LOL It was a late season hunt, I think third season and it was forecasted to snap off cold with highs in the upper thirties and lows in the single digits. fug it, I'm going anyway. They were wrong. The highs were in the low 20s and the lows were in the negative teens. I shivered so hard the first night I thought my teeth were going to break. It was the only time I've ever been legit concerned that I might be in trouble. Crawled out of my sleeping bag and got a fire started and suffered through the night bundled up next to the fire. I slept the next two nights literally wearing every stitch of clothing I'd brought with Nalgenes full of near boiling water in the bottom of my sleeping bag. That was the only way to have non-frozen water in the morning anyway. There was about a foot of snow on the ground and the melt/freeze crust was almost enough to support your weight but you'd go crashing through just as you went or make your step. It was exhausting travel and every step sounded like a rifle shot. Hunting was basically impossible. I never saw an elk in those four days, only saw 5-6 deer. LOL It was brutal but I loved it. Absolutely beautiful country that is never been to before and haven't been back since. I needed that four day complete break from society fighting for my life against the elements. I'm weird like that.
