Yea, but the benefit of having the draft earlier instead of later is that you can talk about all the new toys you got at the very least for part of that lull period. Goodell is the biggest hemorrhoid in the asshole of progress for the nfl, partly because he's made the draft process as excruciatingly drawn out as possible and nearly unrecognizable from what it used to be, and the nfl is immensely successful in spite of him because not even hitler's animated corpse being elected commissioner can stop this cash cow from churning at 1000 miles per hour
