Kemba would have not been drafted it would have been a 4 year plan

Not following... Kemba was drafted a year before we got the second pick, it's not like Lillard was a prospect people lusted after years in advance like LeBron or Wiggins. Hell, guy was pretty much an unknown out of Weber State, many thought the Blazers took him early. But the point is you can't trade the second pick and still expect to get Lillard.

I suppose in a perfect world we would've taken Kawhi and Klay in 2011 (though I think both are overrated due to their situation, still good though) and then Lillard in 2012.

Problem is we can't see the future, being upset about taking x ahead of y is always easier in hindsight. Robinson was an NBA-ready prospect and Lillard was a D2 project. That's like Ennis turning out better than Randle, seems unlikey on draft day but poo happens.

Do you honestly believe we will be in the playoffs next year? No

Whatever you say man... Should be easy with Kemba gone. All these teams with high lottery picks can show us how easy it is to build from nothing. Picks bust all the time, every yr people say next yr is the best draft ever!!!!!!! Potential is the most dangerous word in sports.

Better than the watch my team get their asses spanked everytime game!

So...your solution for keeping us from watching the team lose a lot is to get rid of our good players so we lose a lot...and hope we get a player that HOPEFULLY makes us not lose a lot a few years down the line?

Who is going to jump us? Lets have a nice rundown of every non playoff team.

Knicks- They have no cap room and will likely lose Melo. I doubt they will be doing much of anything.

Cavs- They have the possibility to get better, but Deng is gone and we've already seen what a Irving-Waiters led team looks like

Pistons- They will not be good until Jennings and Smith are off their roster.

Celtics- Likely to be better, but they are more than just one or two pieces away.

Magic- A 20 win team with maybe 3 or 4 players they want on that team long term. Will be a while for them.

Sixers- A D-League team with Carter-Williams. Even with 2 firsts, I don't think they will be that much better.

Bucks- Brandon Knight is the best player on their team. Will be a few years.

The only teams ahead of us I really consider a lot better than we are: Miami (barring losing LeBron), Indiana (unless they lose in the first round and the team is blown up), and Chicago (without DRose we are pretty much just as good).

Players want to play in big cities or for great teams. The Spurs had to build up from the bottom. Once they become championship caliber they had plenty of talent wanting to go there.

Even the Hornets never really attracted big name free agents. They just traded for players or drafted players. Drafted Zo, drafted LJ, drafted Bogues, drafted Baron Davis, traded for Glen Rice, traded for EJ, traded for Monster Mash, etc.

This team is not good enough for big name FA yet. They have to trade for players late in contracts, draft good players and build a quality team.

First of all, Melo isn't going anywhere near LA unless he's going to be a Laker next year. The Clippers don't have near the cap room to sign Melo.

Second of all, none of you are being halfway decently realistic in this topic. Oh wow, we can't beat the 2 time defending NBA champions while our best player is on one leg and can't defend anything. Apparently that means everyone sucks now and we're screwed.

Being in the playoffs this year shows 1st off how great of a coach Steve Clifford is and secondly how great of a star Big Al is. Just because we can't constantly compete well with the Heat, something very few teams can do, doesn't mean we're screwed. This is great experience for all of the young talent involved.

Thank goodness we have fans like you.

The players in the NBA today grew up during the Hornets era. Many of these players most likely had some sort of Hornets gear and have fond memories of the teams we had.

Let's be honest, the team will be able to attract FA's a lot better than the Bobcats ever could. And that's a step in the right direction at least.

Add that to the fact that we have some solid players on this team right now, I think yes, we will be able to attract FA's.
