I see a lit if people complaining about this and saying they will not watch all 4 days and it sucks. I agree. But Godell is expanding this because.

1. He can

2. It increases revenue

If he is going to try something now is the time when the NFL is on top. If it bombs or eventually dips he can change it back.

NBA playoffs are my favorite session of sports time. I just believe the NBA's drop in popularity has to do with the way it has been run since it's peak of success.

Also football has been able to run off with tons of popularity from both sports due to it being extremely receptive to the internet. Twitter, fantasy football and a nice migration into the mobile market have propelled the market more than baseball and basketball.

The NBA is standing on its purist fanbase who really know and love the sport. Right now the NFL have a lot of followers who follow the sport for other than the game. In fact they don't even watch it. The extra followers and bandwagoners. As a result the drama potential is always there. Guys like tibow and manziel are just popping outta the woodwork and make a name for themselves without even getting on the field. That doesn't fly among the purist fans who understand the talent needed to succeed.
