According to McShay, We Should Move Up for WR

Recommended Posts

I'm saying how would you feel about moving up 7-8 slots. Giving up a couple mid-late round picks isn't going to jeopardize our future if we get our guy and he turns out as expected. Just trying to weigh all options and get some discussion going.

I don't think I'd do it unless one of the big OTs slid for some reason. With our core our window is just opening. No need to panic like the Falcons seem to be doing.

If we could cut a deal with say Green Bay for spot 21 ahead of Eagles and pick up Cooks(or whomever), if FO feels Cooks is the man and trade 28 and our 3rd rounder would be fine with it. (Note that trade would be tilted slightly in Panthers, but trade value is pretty close)

I'd hate to give up a 3rd in this year's draft.  I have a feeling we might be kicking ourselves for that one when we see who's still on the board at #92.

I agree, but if they believe Cooks or Beckham is that big of a difference maker, I would be okay with it. (afterall, Huddle says we must always agree with Gettleman because he has a plan). That being said, I don't think Gettleman will trade up or back in the draft. He doesn't seem to be a believer in it. Last year he seemed to turn in the card before the Panthers were even on the clock, I expect it again this year. Right now its just good "they pushed the draft into May and we have two more weeks to kill" idle draft speculation

Because we know so much about his style after one draft.  You can't read anything into a GM's "style" by what he says.  So much smoke and mirrors leading up to the draft.

I remember reading that he was literally laughing at other teams trying to trade with us on draft day last year.

Plus, it doesn't seem very smart with how deep this draft is, and Gettleman is more smarts than emotions, unlike his predecessor.

That said, I could see us maybe giving up a 6th or 7th to jump up a few spots to grab a guy.

No, No, No.

The only player that I would have moved up for is Evans, but now, he is way out of our reach.

Let it play out, and if there isn't anyone there worth the pick to us, I'm all over trading back and getting more 2nd's.

This is why McShay is a dufus, why on earth would you trade up in a year where the WR depth is insane. The only way it would even be remotely possible would be if Evans fell like a rock. Now, if they could leapfrog the Saints for a 6th or something cheap I could see that. But again, there is still plenty of depth.

Our 3rd rounder is too valuable to us right now.

There are plenty of talented guys available should the worst supposedly happen like Adams, Robinson and Richardson. Trading back makes more sense than anything if you must take a WR.

This Latimer kid is sure rising, two weeks ago he was a 3rd or 4th rounder.
