Cam Newton narrative "turnt" upside down: Latest in the "Suck it Nawrocki" series

You should probably add context to that, but again, very low in numbers.

To go further on that comment, those who share that view are going to an extreme, but their frustration has been set in our organizations inability to adequately build around him on his side of the football. One offensive starter drafted since 2011, a WR corps gutted in a contract year.

What exactly is your point with this anyway?

That the narrative about Cam's relationship with the organization that some subscribe to has pretty much no basis in reality.

We had one guy just recently suggest that Newton only said he agrees with the team decisions because he has to say that, but he really feels differently.

I refused to buy Apple stock in the early 80's. I thought Enron was a good stock buy in the 90's. I though Hanson's mmmbop was the best song of the 90's. I didn't want Cam when we drafted him. My life has been a series of "oops". But now I want Cam to never leave. So there is hope for me yet.  :thumbsu:

There have been all sorts of narratives about Newton pushed here and in the media that have no basis in reality. Nothing new unfortunately.

I'm just not understanding why you are so eager to point this out when you know full well that there were far more fans here in 2011 making asinine statements about him who would have probably given up their first born child before having to face the possibility of drafting Cam Newton.

I need a compelling reason to post an opinion on a message board?

What's your reason for posting here?

(if it's something deeper than 'talking football for fun' then I'd say you're taking this too seriously)

What does me questioning your reasoning on a subject have to do with your purpose for posting here? I simply asked you a question.

Your question was why I wanted to talk about what I did.

The answer is because I felt like it.

If you want something deeper than that, I can't help you.

And here I thought Cam hated playing here, hated the way the team was run, hated the city, hated the fans and couldn't wait till his contract was up to get out of here.

(at least that's what some folks on this board keep telling me)

that doesn't mean anything, man.

That just lip service man!

Ya don't expect him to actually come and say he wants out, do ya?

Come on man!!

/sarcasm off

Did I get all the responses?!?!

I think there's something deeper here you don't want to acknowledge.

Mr. Scot, please describe to me your relationship with your mother...  :P

I don't recall anyone saying that he feels differently.  The point was that Cam is saying all the right things ... it's football talk.  He is being smart about it.  This is the same kid that learned a big PR lesson his first year in the league when he let his emotions do the talking.  Look at those interviews and how he handles himself today.  Complete 180.  He still feels those emotions ... but handles it better in front of the microphone.  Cam knows he is under contract for 2 more years and will not be foolish enough to create problems.
