if the panthers decided to get him, i wouldnt be mad.mid round pick.  he has to get more physical tho, and has started to gain weight. weighed in at the combine at 170 pounds but recently weighed in at 180. Huge grab vs Ifo the CB who some projected as a top 2 CB if he would have declraed.

bloodlines as well. dad played in the NFL for several years.

I love the way this kid plays. Good report on Richardson here.

so they see Richardson as a:

-DeSean Jackson 2.0

-T.Y. Hilton 2.0 (Hilton caught for 861 yards as rookie in 2012, then for 1,083 last yr)

Jackson went 2nd R, Hilton 3rd R

compare draft measureables:

Jackson - 5-10/169, 4.35 forty, 34 1/2 vertical

Hilton - 5-10/183, 4.34 forty, 35 1/2 vertical

Richardson - 6-0 /175, 4.40 forty, 38 vertical

"Paul Richardson has the potential to be the next DeSean Jackson without all the baggage... I think Richardson is, at worst, a second-round talent.

...

The guy can fly...this kid’s cuts are sudden...He can shake free of average corners without breaking a sweat. His double move is a thing of beauty...Richardson is all kinds of dangerous when he has the rock in his hands. He...will make people look stupid

in space.

...

Hands - No problems here. Richardson can make the catches

...

To us, Richardson is a no-doubter as far as his talent and skill are concerned. The only, and I mean only, thing we are concerned with is his wispy build

...

We also see him.. as a...T.Y. Hilton, who we sold hard heading into his rookie season. Here's a quick look at our review (of Hilton:) “Small. That’s the only possible complaint we can come up with on TY Hilton. He is a bit small and he comes from a small school... We think he shines in Indy with Luck and company. We also like his chances as far as challenging for snaps as a rookie. ... This guy has DeSean Jackson-like potential"

I like the sound of that.

He is fast like Ginn but he also has good hands.

He flashes hands, but he doesn't have "good" hands at all. He lets the ball get into his pads far too often. Ted Ginn comparison is SPOT on with Richardson. He's also gets negated by more physical Corners. Fourth rounder at best imo.

49ers blogger on Ginn in 2007:

"is he just a track star who can't really play football?... can Ginn can put together the additional skills beyond just game-breaking speed to make it at the next level?

...

Ginn still has plenty of work to do on his hands and route-running... Ginn has been given the tag of a track star playing football, and there is a bit of truth to that. That isn't to say that he doesn't have the tools to play wide receiver, just that...he drops passes he should catch...He also needs to work on his route running... I think he would fit best on a team that already has a possession receiver or two, thus freeing Ginn up to do what he does best: run very fast and ... stretch and outrun a defense"

draft site:

It's too bad nobody pays attention to Colorado football because football fans really missed out on watching one of the nation's truly elite athletes....Richardson is as talented as any receiver in this draft not named Sammy Watkins

...

weaknesses: slender frame not the best for going over the middle or shedding tackles

strengths: He has all-world speed...Richardson’s elite speed makes him a matchup nightmare...He has instant acceleration; he explodes off the line...he shakes press coverage without defensive backs getting a hand on him...he has an explosive and deceptive double move...What makes Richardson's athleticism come to life are his ball skills which are off the charts...he has incredible ball skills; his ability to track and adjust to the ball in the air are elite. He has outstanding leaping ability and wide catch radius; he routinely makes circus catches...He has outstanding body control along the sidelines...and will take the top off a defense

...

summary: it's impossible not to be drawn by this kid's athleticism and the creativity he brings to the game. Coaches and general managers will be drooling over this kid’s potential throughout the draft process and figure to select this speedster out of Colorado some time early on day two of the NFL Draft.

One thing that wasn't mentioned is his route running.  Does he run accurate routes?  Speed and Hands are two parts of the equation but route running IMO is probably the biggest factor.

If you aren't where you are supposed to be then all the pass catching and speed skills don't mean much.

Otherwise I would like to see him.  Route Running is something you can teach.  R. Proehl will get him online.

He's a very one dimensional football player at this point. The only "route" he truly runs is a 9 route. He's uses slants and quick outs at time, but the consistency of the route varies from game to game. I also disagree 100% about him having great, amazing or even good hands. He flashes ability there, but drops too many relatively easy catches. He tries to cradle the ball off his pads a lot of times, and isn't able to squeeze and secure quick enough. Numerous times in the USC and Oregon game he comes over the middle and has the opportunity to move the sticks with a somewhat contested catch, he just doesn't finish the play. That's why I would touch him anywhere close to the second round. You're taking a player who still needs a good bit of refinement. Give me Landry's route running and hands in the second over Richardson's inconsistent flash plays....

I would much rather wait till the fifth and grab a dude who's a little bigger, and just a bit less explosive: Devin Street. Street understands what Defenders are trying to do much better, shows better footwork as he stacks the DB, and then goes outside shoulder to get by him. He also locates the football much better, and has more flashes of natural hand ability. Street as a route runner still needs some work, but he's much more consistent in and out of the breaks with more defined cuts. This leads to increased separation, and chances in space. While he's not AS explosive as Richardson after the catch, he still has plenty of talent in this area.
