  1. Just a 'best case' scenario here for us on an upward trajectory...

    Pick #8 in 2021 - CMC level

    Pick #24 in 2022 - Shaq level

Pick #28 in 2023 - Vernon Butler level

If you wouldn't trade those 3 players for a Top 5 franchise QB, welp.  And yes, we could draft HOF unicorns with all 3 of those firsts, just like we could draft Ryan Leaf level busts for the next 3 drafts.  If the price is 3 1st rounders and that's it, no brainer call it in.  If it's 3 firsts AND players, then it's a potential issue.

  2. Teddy is 1,000% the starter Week 1 anyway unless we pull magic out of our asses and get Deshaun, Dak, or Trevor Lawrence.

Every other scenario has Teddy starting, with a rookie hopefully taking over after our BYE week. So I'll be drunk and yelling angry things about Theodore in Week 1.

    Meaning he's not getting traded.

Second most valuable thing in football is a pass rusher like him.

I think you protect Moton (someone has to block), Moore (someone has to catch), Burns/Brown/Chinn (that's the defense)

    anyone else? go hog wild.

This.  These are the 5 untouchables to me.  I'd say CMC gets thrown in as well, despite the lack of positional value.  Can't see the team wanting to take another PR hit by trading their only marketable star that casual fans still have a connection to. Not the smartest football, move, no...but from the business side CMC isn't leaving.

I also don't think players are even that big of a deal in a trade like this.  It's not like the NBA where 2-3 players get tossed in to even the cap, contracts can be changed to make that work.  The Texans will probably just want a shitload of picks, and whichever team backs up the biggest truck wins.

  4. While a trade down is the obvious pie in the sky scenario a lot of times....don't underestimate teams wanting the 5th year option for rookies. Think of the situation we're in right now with Star and KK.

At 30, IF Gettleman hits another home run....we'd have that player on the cheap for 5 years....not 4 years and then paying him upwards of 10 million. Could mean a lot to the Panthers with the amount of guys we have to sign over the next couple of years, and the Cam/Luke contracts ending around that time.

  5. That 14th pick would net us a nice player...hmmm.  IF a trade were to go down for the Raiders 1st

    14th pick - Best DE/OT/Treadwell

    30th pick - Eli Apple/Kendall Fuller

5th year options on both players selected, and the saved cap space right now. Or even trade up into the Top 10.

    Vs.

"Possibly" only one more year of Norman.

    A trade for a 1st is beyond a longshot...but I know which scenario I'm choosing.

And chances are neither of those picks would play as well as norman. I don't understand the people that want to trade him for picks.

I want Norman here, but if somebody offered even a 1st rounder? Fax it in.

Why? You're not only getting that pick, you're getting that cap space. Just say Norman ended up with a 3 year, 45 million dollar deal. Now you're telling me I can have 15 million extra in cap space for the next 3 years, plus another 1st rounder?  Easy decision to me with the options it presents. You lock up younger guys here, go shopping for FA's, grab a highly rated rookie for "free" with the extra pick, or could pull off a trade if need be. I love Norman and want him here...but if the right trade was ever offered, there are only a few guys on the roster that aren't on the trade block.  Norman ain't one of 'em.

  7. I don't blame Josh for wanting to get his contract. I do blame him for his outrageous opinion of himself (Top 5 All-Time? Come on, Norman.)

I don't blame the Panthers for not wanting to give him big money long-term. He's a CB, who has proven himself for 1.5 seasons, "aging", has a bit of diva in him, and frankly we've won with a no name secondary before.

Obviously I'd love a strong secondary, and Norman to stay long term, but I've never seen it happening. KK and Star are more important hands down. Hell, Kony could prove to be more important. If anything, give him monster numbers for 2 years or so if the team thinks he's that important....take it or leave it. My money is on Getts in this showdown, no matter the outcome.

  8. Would love Hunter Henry on this team. Extra weapon, great blocking, and his NFL comp is Witten. If he's half that good, it's a steal.

I can't see DG trading up in the 2nd ONLY because of how deep the DL talent is in the draft. Not saying he won't, just that I can't see it. Wouldn't hate a trade up, though, since it's going to be tougher than usual to make the team this year and a bunch of rookies might not stick.
