Huddle Podcast - Talking Panthers with Jonathan Jones
CarolinaNCSU replied to Jeremy Igo's topic in Carolina Panthers
Thank God. Just listened to Grantland's preview from Mays and Barnwell and need a decent podcast to cleanse myself. Just a FYI for anyone who wants the Panthers section of Grantland's NFC South preview...Panthers section starts around 20 minutes, both have us going 7-9, laugh at the OL and say things like Norwell is a dude off the street, give more time to Foucault. Secondary is still trash (no mention of Bene or Norman), and they don't know if the DL is that good (at least for Mays). Yet the Falcons are winning 9-10 games, and their OL and defensive issues could be fixed. Didn't bother listening to the Saints or Bucs love fest. -
An Alternative Roster Projection - The Youth Movement

Panthro making a great point about the comp pick. Wegher has proven his worth, and looks solid on ST. Cut Trusnik, hope we get the 3rd round comp, keep Wegher...everyone profits. Tolbert would surprise as a cut, but it may have to be done. Any chance Ward would make it to the practice squad? I could see them stashing him for now, and should Tolbert or even a RB go down, bring up Ward. Don't see Cotch being cut at all, though. Even in the Camp Confidential videos the team has been doing, Cotch's role as a leader has been talked about. Can't see them cutting him and rolling with a super young group (outside of Ginn) after KB has gone down. -

If we make the playoffs Cam will be the mother fuging MVP of the universe. Ginn, Olsen, Philly, Funch...it's...not awful? But fuging fug. -

Welp. Either Gettlemagic, or see you guys in 2016. Maybe Stewart will miraculously play a full season. -

Love having Ginn back. He's said he was chasing a check in Arizona, and seems happy to be back with Cam. Going back to 2013, he alligator armed a few too many passes. IF he can cut some of that out, he's a difference maker on offense. Not to mention special teams. Really excited to have him, KB, Olsen, Funch, and Philly.

I'm grabbing him for sure. Especially with Stewart likely on the way out due to his contract.

Has he ever fielded punts or kicks before? With that speed, if he has decent hands, I'd rather him be fielding punts should Ginn go down rather than Bersin. Bersin's potential IMO has been met...a #4-5 possession WR. If Byrd has higher potential than that, gotta find a way to tap into it.

Really pulling for him. I know it's a longshot for him to make the roster...but with the state of our OL, we sure as hell could use a blocking FB to open lanes and protect Cam. It's been said before, but Ward/Tolber/Cam in the same backfield? Or Stew for that matter? Lawd.

Just let Norwell handle the entire left side by his damn self.

Is Remmers just not even worth a look at LT to the staff? I'm more comfortable with Oher or D. Williams at RT (Remmers at LT), than I am with Nate Chandler ever seeing the field at LT.

Top 3 Panthers Camp Sleepers of 2015
CarolinaNCSU replied to Jeremy Igo's topic in Carolina Panthers
All 3 of the guys Zod listed, as well as Wegher, I hope either make the team or go to the PS. Like the potential of all four dudes, all in potential areas of need in the near future.- 31 replies

His negatives far outweighed the positives, for me at least. He couldn't catch, or shoot, or dribble, or pass...in turn, limiting an already limited offense. Sucks to lose the defense/rebounding...but it looks like they're not planning on doing those things anyway. Skal Labissiere, come on down.

OKC is trying to clear space to re-sign Kanter/Singler.

Will be interesting to see what he can do if given good minutes. No risk, decent reward potential.
-
The way the NFL is going, obviously the need for a FB has decreased if you have a RB who can hold his on blocking. But a Mike Shula offense? I'd love to see a dominant, blocking FB opening holes for Stew or leading Cam down the field.

Bold Predictions for the 2015 NFL Season
CarolinaNCSU replied to hepcat's topic in Carolina Panthers
1. Cam gets MVP traction for a good part of the season 2. The OL isn't half bad 3. Funchess won't put up KB's stats from last year, but shows the potential to be a better player than KB 4. TD goes to a Pro Bowl 5. Ealy flirts with double digit sacks...ends up around 8-9. -

Love hearing that about Norman. Seems he's maturing nicely and focusing his energy into his swag instead of stupidity. Pay that man.- 23 replies
