Would you risk early pick on Peyton Wilson?
CarolinaNCSU replied to Jmac's topic in Carolina Panthers
Not at 33. I'd still be scared at 39, but would be cautiously optimistic/thrilled to have him. If he stays healthy, he's one of the steals of the draft and a difference maker for a defense that needs more leadership now and once Shaq is done. Also been said in ways, but I think his injury history won't impact Morgan THAT much. Morgan sees a dawg LB with an injury history when he looks in the mirror. I think he's willing to roll the dice on Payton if he's there at 39. -
Upgrade the offense at the sake of the defense and see if Bryce has *anything* If yes, continue on building the team. If BY still can't play QB, you just tanked the year and have a top pick for Canales to draft his own QB while you've shored up other pieces. The BY prove it year/soft tank is on.

“Keep a close eye on Belichik to Carolina”
CarolinaNCSU replied to ncfan's topic in Carolina Panthers
If Belichick wants it, you better believe he's the next coach. Will bring Bill O'Brien with him with the Bama/Bryce ties to satisfy Tepper. Obviously a winner in Tepper's mind. Immediate respect and no backlash on Tepper if it doesn't work because he got Belichick, and didn't miss again on an unproven coach. First goal should still be trying to get Ben Johnson, but I think Bill B has been Tepper's immediate "fix" for a while now. -
Was Frank our worst head coach?
CarolinaNCSU replied to Panthers Fan 69's topic in Carolina Panthers
Rhule is still the worst IMO. Brass Balls big first swing, kills the culture entirely, destroys the fanbase and fan favorites in the process. Plus, the shitty results and potential he was making personnel and GM calls. Frank is just an old man and meh at best coach who walked into a bad situation with zero desire to fix it after he saw behind the curtain. Frank should've been the figurehead and adult in the room...and then let the "All-Star" staff coach. He was the final nail in the coffin, but Rhule dug the grave. -
Reich current highest odds to be first HC fired this season
CarolinaNCSU replied to ncfan's topic in Carolina Panthers
Just wait until Tepper fires Reich and wants to trade for Bill B. Can bring Bill O'Brien with him to reconnect with Bryce. Tepper gives Belichick control, even though he can't draft or sign guys for poo lately, but it's the "splash" he thinks will right the ship. -
Addition by subtraction Reaching the point in the year where we should throw every JAG or young guy out there and see if anything sticks. Find another Luvu in a wasted year instead of hoping guys like Ian Thomas finally do something.

Still don't understand why we've tried forcing Chinn into a secondary role. He's what, 10 pounds lighter than Hasson Redick? 15 or so pounds lighter than Luvu? Team has mismanaged him since he balled out his rookie year and almost was the RDPOY. Trade him to the Eagles and let him have a decent career instead of being forced to play in this nightmare.

Let's play "I could be a better GM than Scott Fitterer"
CarolinaNCSU replied to NAS's topic in Carolina Panthers
Needs to be included in the list of terrible but trading for CJ Henderson, especially with college coaches over their head in charge, pisses me off at least 3-4 times every Sunday. Used to like Fitt, but whew the list of bad moves is getting real long. -
Mr “I won’t stand up for Mediocrity” observes practice today
CarolinaNCSU replied to ncfan's topic in Carolina Panthers
Tepper is going to give Jim Harbaugh a blank check sometime in January. It's only going to last 2-3 years before they murder each other, but it's going to be a large check. -
I think we might see the elimination of silver as such a primary color for us. Blue/Black/White jerseys, with a white helmet & the black helmet as options, black or white pants. White out look, black out look, and a few different combos thrown in. The black helmet was insanely popular, and DJ's tweet about matte white helmets a few weeks back makes me think he leaked a little something.

He went to Baylor a decade too soon, but David Gettis is only 35.

MJ in talks to sell majority stake of Hornets
CarolinaNCSU replied to carpanfan96's topic in Charlotte Hornets
#1 pick would make the valuation go up quite a bit with the promise of Wemby and in turn make all of the other owners some money in the process. Need the ghost of David Stern to give MJ a nice parting gift. -
I haven't been this hopeful in a long damn time. Crazy feeling to have faith in the direction of this franchise again.

Starting to believe this as well about the firsts. It hurts like hell as far as building the team. But the same people freaking out and saying QBs in the 1st bust and argue for finding one in the 2nd or 3rd? Cool, we'll have 2nd and 3rd round picks to find the new QB if our #1 pick is a bust over the next couple of years.
-
Goodbye to the silver in uniforms? Now with two helmets being an option, have the black helmet & the potential new white helmet to go with white/black/blue uniform combos. Don't really need the silver, so could see the rebrand eliminating it

"Would you take a pay cut at your job?" Yeah, don't think Shaq is going to take pay cut. If we plan to keep him, an extension that adds a couple years and at 5-6 million per might be the only way to make both sides "happy". Spread the money across 3 years, basically a 3 year deal at 36 million then. Still too rich for my blood. Rather go out and take a shot on 5 more Frankie Luvu's and hope 1-2 work out.

Draft picks or not, if he is a HC hire after next season I'd say that means very, very good things for our season.

Stroud is my QB1 and who I want. I'm sure we'll have to trade up, but it's time to take the swing. Just hope he falls to 5 or 6 and not 2 or 3 to get him. Worried we're going to end up connected to Levis. If that happens, time to just trust the Reich hire and hope like hell that he develops whoever we take.

Roman Harper thinks Sean Payton could be our next HC now
CarolinaNCSU replied to ncfan's topic in Carolina Panthers
Tracking Allbright's mindset, it seems that Johnson was our favorite *unless* Tepper pulled off Payton. Johnson backs out from maybe the only job he wanted...because Tepper got Payton it seems? Whatever, just announce the coach so we can then spend time playing guess the QB. IF it's Payton, feel like there's 2 ways the QB search goes down. We double down and trade up (goodbye, draft picks) so Payton gets the rookie QB he wants to develop, or the crazy Brady rumor comes true for next year while Payton develops Corral or his next Taysom Hill project. The Saints obviously weren't strangers to trading draft picks, trading 1sts, cap magic, etc. If Payton comes here, I'd expect the philosophy of Payton/Loomis to follow. -
Panthers receive permission to interview Sean Payton
CarolinaNCSU replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
Current players mad that Wilks isn't hired. Former players mad that Wilks wasn't hired AND the Bountygate prick is the new coach? While giving up a treasure trove of picks I'm sure? Whew, put a microphone in front of Smitty as soon as it happens if so. But, I think it's more of an "interview" to pick his brain and see what he says his plan would be. Which, I'd also take with a grain of salt since I doubt he'd give two shits about coming here. Unless Tom Brady followed him and then we all go insane having to root for those two. -
Tepper enamored with Ben Johnson per Person
CarolinaNCSU replied to raleigh-panther's topic in Carolina Panthers
Its going to be Johnson unless he absolutely shits the bed in his interview. Young, offensive guru, local guy, etc. It's Tepper's supposed dream hire. If Wilks hadn't become the emotional favorite in the media, I think there would already be a lot more smoke out there than what's now being said this weekend. Staff he assembles will be interesting, especially when the locker room might have to be convinced after Wilks isn't the choice. Maybe we get lucky and Johnson's connection to Kuechly can convince him to come on board in some capacity.
