  1. He wants to be involved in it all, and that's the problem. And he's also gotten/earned a bad reputation for being a difficult guy to work for. He's not going to be able to hire the best GM or HC. Partly because they'll have options for better situations (and ours sucks). But he also will be the same guy making decisions he has been. He doesn't know what he's doing. It's all trial and error. We're hoping the blind squirrel finds a nut. And then he's going to be involved in the process. And his involvement messes stuff up. Just being present and having opinions he makes known regularly is a problem because he's influenced by those who have his ear. He's present, but his presence doesn't help
  2. And that's the problem. It's the power of influence people have over him and the authority he gives them. Which wouldn't be a problem if he hired better than he does. He's getting caught up in the emotional crap. He bought the program building poo of Rhule and then the good guy pastor hype of Reich. He has a type. He wants emotional influencers as coaches. And then the draw was Bryce being basically a sweetheart personality. A good kid with great manners that you would feel good bringing home to mama. It's not just Fit. It's everyone who he allows to have his ear and then he gets involved in the decision making or in the process and he'll try to influence it set expectations based on the couple of people who has his ear at the moment.
  3. It's not like we have been a great draw anyways.
  4. The big problem is he wants to succeed too much, but he thinks it's on him to ensure it happens and the more he fails, the more he feels he has to fix it or make sure he fixes it. What makes it even harder is he's no smarter than many fans. You look at that thread that talks about what we would do to fix the team and I could see him in there going , "yeah! This is what I need to do!" Not that he would read any and take suggestions, more that his mind is working the same way most of ours do....thinking that he knows more about how to run/fix a team than we actually do. It's ok for us, because we're just dumb fans dreaming. It's not ok for him because he's just a dumb fan who owns a team and wants to run it. And what makes it even worse is this is something he's obsessed with and he's not going to be able to let go or back away. he'll hire and get involved in every aspect and he'll listen to and be influenced by too many voices (including his wife). Hire a president of football operations who knows his poo, then give him the authority to run the team and then back the hell off.
  5. I forgot about that guy. I wore that cd out. Momentarily filled the SRV void.
  6. Step 1) hire the most competent football mind money can buy and make him president of football operations Step 2) give him the blank checkbook Step 3) give him control Step 4) go on vacation
  7. There needs to be a 100% rebuild of this team. Front office, coaches, and players. Just blow it up and start over.
  8. One of several remaining games that I can't imagine anyone really wanting to watch, much less televise.
  9. I'd forgotten about him but I watched him a good bit the first half of the year. He knows his stuff for sure, but he's also just fun to watch.
  10. kind of generous to be calling this a train ride being that we aren't going anywhere so no need to buckle up. we're stuck in the station. it's ok to get off the train and go sightseeing somewhere since it will still likely be sitting here still when you're done.
  11. attempting to answer the OP question about patience....it's weird. it's not about patience anymore if you're already checked out. apathy has set in. i just don't really care that much. i don't care what they do and i have no idea what they should do because i'm just not putting the effort into it.
  12. "who can i blame for hiring reich?"
  13. We're going to be showing up in a lot of highlight reels.
  14. Yeah probably need to hang it up. Life's more important than football.
  15. there is one guy...some special forces guy that was supposed to keep everyone in check or something like that.
  16. i think it's going to be a looooong time before we have a TEAM that we can be proud of again. most likely going to be a bunch of one or two year wonders and the only ones who stick around will be ones with no personality, since it seems we are allergic to that now.
  17. SO my dad goes through this short lived phase in his early 70s where he decided he would help take care of leftovers in the refrigerator for lunches. He sees a couple leftover things that he typically likes and he just throws it into a bowl together and warms it up. i would tell him that this isn't a good idea, but he just can't understand why it wouldn't be. then one day he tried something like leftover spaghetti mixed with sauerkraut mixed with a couple other things i couldn't see and he gets about half way through his bowl and says to me, "son, i don't feel so well..."and then he's up and hustling to the bathroom and when he's done he says, "you know, maybe i shouldn't have mixed those things together." that's kind of what we had here in carolina.
