  1. well that makes things a bit clearer on what/who is coming.
  2. even with a lack of interest in him from other teams, it's clear to me that at some point he was going to be a HC somewhere. it's only a matter of time. would love for us to be seen as smart at least once.
  3. one of the articles i read about him pointed this out as being the case. i can't remember which article it was, though. i just remember seeing that this was something he was more intentional about and wasn't just talking about like others do. i remember also him being talked about as one who will look at a player's weakness and work with them to turn it into a strength.
  4. yeah, it was him and i would talk to him about how bad i felt some people were talking to him. really an embarrassing time for the huddle. you've got a panthers legend jumping in conversations here (not the only panthers player to do so) and you've got these clowns in here with internet tough guy syndrome wanting to say things from the safety of anonymity and the internet to a guy who could squash their puny heads like a grape. he was a nice guy, but there was only so much he could take from morons in here (i'm sure a lot of those idiots with internet tough guy syndrome are still in here). but while he as here he would give some insights into what he knew was going on and he knew because he was still friends with a lot of people on the team and he was local at the time.
  5. last year he was in consideration. this year he was just a name we looked at and then went...
  6. how did geno and the seattle offense do after canales left seattle? wasn't so good, either.
  7. i really hope that tepper has been hearing and listening to all of the noise around the league about how his particular management model is seen as a problem and primary reason for his constant failings so far and that he makes a change. let dan do his job and realize that your job isn't his job. same with the coaching staff.
  8. i wouldn't have a problem with keeping the D intact as much as possible and Tabor as well. Let Canales do what he wants with the O. i can't see canales having a problem with the D staff staying intact as long as there is no discord with or within the D staff. for them it would probably be good not to have to pick up and try to find another job and move their families and they probably wouldn't find that kind of pay anywhere else.
  9. Just got to thinking about this. since Tepper spent a beaucoup of money for that staff i'd think his desire would be to keep as many around so the money isn't wasted. probably most of us would prefer we get rid of most of them, but there has to be some good hires in there that just received poor guidance. maybe it would help out the incoming HC to not have to start from scratch getting his staff. who would you feel ok or good about keeping around?
  10. i'm just hoping that if we can get someone like Canales he can work a miracle with bruce like he did with geno and baker
  11. I think this is our guy. Dan Morgan as GM now makes this even more likely. I'm ok with it. I like the guy, but that probably means he's going to suck. Still there's a lot to be said for his effect on QBs and offenses. Also a lot to be said regarding Seattle's and Geno's decline after he left. Plus the guy is a motivator/culture changer. Listen to him and he's got that mindset and charisma.
  12. I'll take your word for it. I wasn't crazy about the hire, but you know him and I don't. I hope you're right.
  13. same. he runs the kind of offense that would make it much easier for a QB with a lot of rough spots (run heavy with easy passes) but that is just innovative enough to throw off defenses. seems like he does a really good job of developing players. not sure how that would go with him being the HC (more of an OC/positional coach job) but maybe it's a culture thing. he seems like a good dude, but so did reich and it didn't help him much. Canales is more of a motivator from the way it looks rather than a (failed) consensus builder like reich was supposed to be.
  14. yep. his paternal grandparents were immigrants from mexico.
  15. might just be not taking into consideration the new ownership and direction they may be taking, but i can see dan quinn going to washington. seems like their kind of HC.
  16. what if you do all that working to lose and wind up with the #1 pick but the #1 ranked QB is a weak prospect? let bryce compete with a competent QB or two. let him develop. let us try to win some with whoever rises above the others. i'm tired of losing. another year of it....THAT sounds horrible.
  17. i am no way in favor of tanking yet another year in 2024, especially so we can get the #1 or #2 pick in a draft making a desperation move for another bad QB (2025 is pretty blah with QBs). let us do what we can to see some wins next year.
  18. I know much depends on who we get, but regardless of who that is, what do you think we should do? 1) look to the 2024 draft to try and find one at 33 or later? (and potentially waste a not horrible pick on probable backup) 2) FA stop gap...keep Dalton and then look for maybe a little younger FA to also come in and help us compete while also giving bryce more competition for him to overcome? 3) stand pat with who we have and just let bryce be groomed and keep dalton as the backup? (ii can't imagine anyone really being cool with this one). If you want to do something that involves trading anything to get a QB let us know why you think that would be a good idea and how much we should be willing to give up.
  19. agreed with all this. keep dalton. add another vet FA QB. whatever you do, you don't trade for one or draft one aside from maybe a late round flyer guy.
  20. if they haven't gotten a ring with this coach and QB combo by now, it's not going to happen. that window is shutting. but they are a perennial playoff team so it would be hard to justify doing it, but they aren't going further with this combo than they have so far. if the goal is a ring, then they need to shake it up. if they are satisfied with just getting in the playoffs then maintain the status quo, i guess.
  21. so far an F, as in we Fugged up bad. at best it's an incomplete. deciding factor on this is what the new coaching staff can do as far as development and scheme around him. not gonna hold my breathe.
