  1. this was an interesting one. surprised to see chop robinson there and if we lose burns this might not be a bad opportunity. i usually try to get a WR early, but the way it was falling i didn't like the values there. definitely broke me out of some drafting ruts i had gotten into.
  2. a case of us being fixated on this RAS crap. i'm sure it's important, but if they don't football well, they are worthless. being athletic means nothing if you don't have anything you do well.
  3. what happened with chinn is a big mystery. i've lost interest in him. let him hit the market because we sure never have known what the hell to do with him.
  4. the legend is greater than the reality. the legend is not worth the price tag.
  5. same here. aside from luvu, let them go and upgrade where we can.
  6. That sucks. They lost because their offense was limited, not because of their defense.
  7. bit of a reach for Guerendo, but i like the guy. i love making trades, though.
  8. this. right. here. we're not going to be a playoff bound team this next year. probably not next year either. build wisely and frugally. consider what greg olsen said a couple weeks ago draft well and pick up not star or elite FAs that you have to pay $20mil/year for. get the decent role players who can help fill out the roster or who can be developed. build from the bottom up. it's not sexy, but it's smart. we've got limited resources to rebuild this team. should we have to rebuild this team after waiting so long? no, but we have to because tepper hired the wrong people. hopefully he hired the right ones this time around, but until we get the right guys rebuilding this team we're going to be stuck and there isn't a chris jones or any other high $ player is going to fix that. it will only put us in a worse cap situation.
  9. Ok..... here's something to consider. Why the hell would we want to be the highest bidder? I can't think of a bigger mistake...going all in on ANYBODY at this point. We don't need to be throwing all our money at one or two players under the impression that it will make us competitive next year. As exciting as it would be to make a big splash, isn't that what we've been trying to do the last few years? And how has it worked out.. We have to use all our resources to rebuild the team. A team isn't made up of one or two big stars . It's made up of a bunch of Joe's who are decent players...not stars, just decent players who can do what they're told. We don't even have that kind of team. We have do do the boring route. We have to use all our money on bringing in average Joe's who are decent players who can do what they're told. Throwing all our chips in to get a Chris Jones won't help us build the team.
  10. Lol at even entertaining the thought of Chris Jones coming here.
  11. lol a little trade happy. the offers kept coming
  12. he's kind of all over the place as far as projections. big and athletic is the draw. people love the idea of a WR like that. he could do alright, but he could also be a headache. you draft a WR here and you're going to want him to be a super reliable target. big game target would be nice, but i'd rather have big time reliable.
  13. Ok, as far as TEs is concerned, i know Bowers isn't happening. There is one i think we could grab in the 3rd that i think would be really good. Ja'Tavion Sanders. he's got it all. would instantly be the best TE we've had since Olsen (not that the bar is set very high post-greg). realistic WR options that i think would help out a lot who might be available (a couple depending on whether 5,6,or7 go in the first round): Keon Coleman/Troy Frankin/Adonai Mitchell (1-2 of these guys might still be there at 33) Ladd McConkey (not a huge guy, but he's one of these type WRs that becomes a QBs best friend. key for him great hands, great routes, gets separation) Xavier Legette - might be gone earlier because he's a big and fast guy with decent hands who fights for the ball. the issue is he has to fight for that ball a lot. read into that...doesn't create a whole lot of separation. still, wouldn't hate it. Super athletic guy, esp. for his size. Xavier Worthy - really fast stick with good hands. only real downside is he's a stick. probably the guy you want for deep balls. if we don't use the deep ball that often, though, probably another direction we could go. Ja'Lynn Polk - good prospect with tons of potential. needs a good bit of coaching up and might be another who will fight hard for the ball, but won't get a lot of separation. Devontez Walker - could be a great do it all kind of WR. lots to like with him. just needs some refining in a couple areas. Definitely one to keep an eye on, especially being a local kid. Brenden Rice - son of the GOAT. good size and very athletic. smart. fights for the ball and every yard. does it all well. lots to love. not a lot at all to hate on. Roman Wilson - tiny but uber-athletic. will end up in fights for the ball...which could be a problem because he's tiny. he's a highlight reel guy. fun to watch, but likely won't be the most reliable target out there. day 2 guy for sure. Malik Washington - another small guy, but good bit of potential. fun to watch. in some ways he's like McConkey... quick, good reliable hands, and can get separation. limited route tree, but what he runs he runs well. Luke McCaffrey - think CMC except just a WR. fights for the ball. fights for the extra yards. fights for the end zone. tough and athletic and a reliable target. this class is very nice and i could go on all day, but these guys are the ones that interested me the most. i'd be happy if we could get a couple of these guys. i think guys i've been most looking at aren't necessarily the big guys, though that would be nice. it's guys who can get open with some separation and can be counted on to catch the ball. i don't care how big they are. just be open and reliable.
  14. one of the all time best superbowl pics ever. dude was a warrior when he was here. that fight was always in him and he was always pushing to get back on the field, no matter how many times he had to get pain killing injections in his foot before games...he was always going to give it everything he could.
  15. either we spend this year focusing one putting all the needed pieces around BY for him to succeed, or we have the team ready for the next guy. but this year is all about surrounding the QB, not switching out the QB.
  16. what helped him the most was finding/stumbling on the right QB to fit what he had in his head. that's kind of like with bill and brady. would the patriots or either of them have been that great if it was missing either one of those two commodities? i doubt it. it was the ight fit and it was an incredibly rare fit. same thing going on with reid and mahomes. right fit at the right time and again, it's an incredibly rare thing. if shanahan finds his mahomes, then maybe he could turn that corner. i just don't think that it will happen.
  17. that's the 2nd thought every time i saw him....following right after "this guy never misses..
  18. you could make an argument that is because the rest of the NFC is just so bad rather than the 49ers are that great. i just don't see greatness in the 49ers, not the level the chiefs have. i'm not a chiefs fan, btw. i want them knocked down for the sake of parity within the league. i think the chiefs will likely be back in the superbowl next year. i don't see that happening with the 49ers. they might make it to the NFCCG, but i think someone else will pass them by. the biggest thing that will hold them back is shanny. they'll be really good, but they will never be great like the chiefs and the pats.
  19. i think with the right playcalling on offense, the 49ers would have won. 2 things happened, 1) 49ers deviated from what they were doing well and stopped running the ball. chiefs have one of the best secondary's in the league and then when you throw Chris Jones in the mix, that passing game is going to have some problems. which leads to 2) 49ers had a little passing game that was working...until chris jones got it figured out and when he did they couldn't do anything about it. best thing 49ers could have done was just keep running. of course if they had, CMC would likely have not been able to finish the game. i'm surprised he did. but the best thing they had in their arsenal was rushing the ball because the chiefs were just too good to pass consistently on all game. muffing the punt (do we call that one a muff?) and getting that XP blocked were killers for sure, but shanny should have called a better game.
  20. the problem with dynasty's and really any team that consistently go deep in the playoffs (not something we see much of these days) is that they are able to handle clutch situations on that stage better just because of experience. the moment isn't too big for them because they have experience in it. occasionally they will meet a team that beats them one year, but they are typically one and done...the next year they drop off a cliff. shanny doesn't know how to get a team to handle those clutch moments and he doesn't know how to handle them himself. that's what it boils down to. this era we're in right now belongs to the chiefs because they have the right mix of players, coaches, and experience. like the pats, they didn't always have the most outstanding team during the regular season and there would always be those teams who look like they could give them a run for the money come playoff time, but when playoff time comes...that's when the great teams really shine With these teams, there isn't much you can do to stop them except become them and that won't happen for another decade.
  21. as much as i really don't want another dynasty team around (because honestly it just makes the game boring) i am pretty happy that san fran fell and shanahan fell on his face again. i don't/never have liked that team and shanny just seems like a punk...kind of like matty ryan. residual from their ATL days. and san fran being a formal rival and that poo that they had going on with us a few years back gave feeds the disdain i have for them. i hate being bottom dwellers, but seeing them fail makes it a little more tolerable.
  22. Man you've got some weird gossip column type hot takes.
