you're right. one of the big challenges is that the last several years the culture within the team has fallen apart and it's become pretty pathetic. they've got no fortitude and it's going to take a while for them to get their stamina up. Canales has his work cut out for him for sure. i think we've got the right guy for the job there, though.
-
honestly, just seeing a fight in the team rather than a squabble behind the doors would be a step toward regaining it.
-
i'm hoping we have a return to pride soon.
-
hopefully this year we have a coaching staff that is all on the same page and is only interested in making the team better rather than just surviving hunger games.

sometimes you've got to just sit with the job you've got and make the best of it and trust that your hard work is going to open a door out to a better one.

Brandt Tilis hire official - Executive VP of Football Operations
rayzor replied to Mr. Scot's topic in Carolina Panthers
Welcome to the poo show. Hope you brought your waders. -
i hunted for quite a few years. 2-3 deer a year and my family was set pretty well. i haven't for the past couple years because i just got tired. i like the hunting alright. it was the dressing and processing that got me and after doing all the processing myself for years, i just couldn't see paying someone else to do it. it was just time consuming and i hated field dressing them when it was unseasonably warm and when it was bitter cold. i also raised rabbits for a couple years. it sucked. we'd have easter pics with the babies and my daughters and then a month or two later i'd be breaking their necks and then getting them ready for the freezer. i hated that. my daughters and wife couldn't get past the idea of eating them so they never did. it was just me that ended up eating them. i try to find good clean meat options, but i'm just not interested in hunting or growing my meat right now. just too much work and i'm working too much right now as it is.

it's not in our best interest to let him or really any of the defensive staff go. i'm sure they will be getting paid a poo ton and if you want to line up a better opportunity for yourself next year, kill it with the opportunity you have here this year. i know it sucks being passed over for a job you wanted and are qualified for and then working for the person who got the job you wanted. i know it sucks having that happen a couple times. (been there, done that). you just keep pushing, though.

Who is Dave Canales? 9 part series
rayzor replied to blueandblackattack's topic in Carolina Panthers
i watched a lot of it last night. really good stuff in there. can't wait to see if he can turn this thing around. -
CAR 33. Xavier Legette WR South Carolina 65. Kris Jenkins DT Michigan 101. Will Shipley RB Clemson 140. Theo Johnson TE Penn State 165. Will Putnam OC Clemson 179. Sam Hartman QB Notre Dame
-
Likely only Caneles is and Idzik is the sounding board and the guy who helps implement and run practices. One thing is for sure, won't be any question about the HC and OC being on the same page. I like it.

Any idea of what Young is doing in the offseason to improve?

When is Coach Canales introductory press conference?
rayzor replied to philw5289's topic in Carolina Panthers
i expect at the senior bowl they are also going to be on the lookout for prospective assistant coaches. lot of networking going to be going on. hopefully canales will have watched a good bit of tape on us so he goes into the intro presser a bit informed about where we are and where we need to go. -
Why carolina can not* afford to lose Burns

yes, eventually you need them to put you over the top.to get that ship up the hill, you just need as many workers as possible. -
Why carolina can not* afford to lose Burns
rayzor replied to micnificent28's topic in Carolina Panthers
burns isn't an allstar. he's not worth $30m (which is what he wants). he's not worth $25m. he's barely worth $20m and even that's a push. the biggest issue is to get solid players across the board and use as many draft picks and as much cap space as possible to accomplish this. build a solid team, a solid foundation, first. then develop up. -
Why carolina can not* afford to lose Burns
rayzor replied to micnificent28's topic in Carolina Panthers
i'll say this...i don't think we need all-stars on this team right now, as in that doesn't need to be a priority. right now what we need are highly motivated jags who can get the job done. trade burns and get some value for the cap space and picks. -
Tony Pauline: Campen was Tepper's "eyes and ears"
rayzor replied to Mr. Scot's topic in Carolina Panthers
yeah, i mean there were "good vibes" or whatever, but no energy or hype. but i think that goes along with reich's personna. he's not exactly a high energy motivator. i see canales as being someone that can get the players charged up. something that we've been lacking since cam was around. -
we get nothing because he wasn't here for 2 years. and comp picks are only for promotions. not lateral moves.

We cannot afford to keep him. -
Well he has handled this hiring season different than the previous ones. He wanted a splash and a show and he made himself highly visible throughout. This time through we get none of that. I know partly it could be sometimes you get who you can get. With Morgan, on a lot of levels he makes sense. And then it's pretty obvious that while Tepper had someone else he was hit for and he's shown in the past that he's willing to wait and do all he can to persuade the guy he wants (even Deshaun Watson), he went with Morgan's guy who I'm sure sold Tepper on FBhim as the guy who can take care of the bulk of this teams problems. Point is I think he's stepping away from the spotlight/attention (which all he was able to do was make himself look like a pompous spoiled billionaire jackass). I think he's delegating the hiring process to someone else, and he'll hopefully be eliminating himself from the acquisition of players and running of the team. My hope is that he and his wife just disappears from public and that people forget he owns the team too.

If someone would give us a first for him? Absolutely. I'd even take an early second. He has never been reliable. I don't see that changing. First round pick would be more valuable. Less than that, though, ride with it and hope he quits breaking. I really don't see that happening though. He's going to just spend his whole contract here being talented and sidelined.

We know one was Tabor. Jim Caldwell wouldn't surprise me either. Probably a few players as well. Whoever it was, get them on a bus out of town and have a zero tolerance policy. No one past the GM and HC should be reporting to the big boss man. -
Adam Schefter reports Panthers targeting Brandt Tillis
rayzor replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
We should have traded him for 2 first when we had the chance. The one who turned it was fired and now it's water under the bridge. Letting him go without any compensation sucks, but not as much as it would suck to overpay him and cripple the team financially. He's just flat out not worth the cost. Let someone else overpay. Sure he'll get his revenge game against us but I can live with that. -
He-hate-me was on here a good bit long ago as well. plus there were a lot of lurkers who were players and front office people.
