  1. depends on who you're talking to.
  2. you don't. he was a charger for 5 years (drafted 2nd round/32nd overall in 2001 draft). first year he sat behind doug flutie and only saw the field game. next year ('02) he got the start and went 8-8 and threw 17 TDs:16 INTs, almost 3300 yards. third year ('03) as a starter he got hurt and had a 2-9 record starting. 11 TDs:15 INTs. 2100 yards. result: chargers weren't impressed and drafted Eli Manning (then traded for Rivers when Eli said he wasn't going to play for the chargers). In '04, his fourth year in the league (third as a starter), he blew up and even though he threw for less than 3200 yards, he still threw 27 TDs and only 7 INTs and they had their first winning record in nearly a decade. the next year ('05) he came back down to earth a little but still threw over 3500 yards, 24 TDs and 15 INTs. last game of the season he got hurt pretty bad...messed up shoulder. he was up for a new contract and they offered him one filled with all kinds of incentives and he decided he'd walk. with Rivers sitting behind him he could see the writing on the wall. Had he stayed, he would have eventually become the backup because they had given Rivers a massive contract (6 year- $41mil/$15mil guaranteed). So he was an ok QB with one really good year out of 5, but it wasn't until he got to his second team that he really took off...when he had something to prove. even then, when he was a free agent, he was essentially the 2nd favorite FA behind dante cuplepper who was trying to come back from an injury himself. no one expected what he did in new orleans because aside from that one year out of 5, he hadn't really shown much. that '04 pro-bowl year looked like a fluke.
  3. this year he is. next year depends largely on what Baker does this year.
  4. I wanted Corral, but these kind of things are winning me over.
  5. He's on IR. He's a nonfactor and a non issue this year. Pretty much no reason to really talk about him until next season when he becomes relevant again. Time to focus on the guy we've got this year and hope for the best.
  6. Interesting comparison. I hope it's an accurate one.
  7. Yeah, it's beaten me down pretty bad. Hanging on by a thread here. Wouldn't be jumping to another team or anything. Would just lose interest and find something better to do that won't constantly frustrate me. It's just not much fun anymore. I'm hoping Baker changes that for me.
  8. I could see myself doing that and I hope he gives me reason to. I mean I'll be pulling for him but I'm not optimistic yet. I'm just curious more than anything.
  9. Doesn't mean I have to like it or that my opinion matters. I just don't like the risk involved. Never have. And I don't have to.
  10. Calm down fella. Like I said, I'm talking about IN GENERAL. For everyone. He wasn't the only guy that got gurt, you know. And he wasn't the only on at risk of unnecessary injuries caused by players from another team in a game that doesn't count. And yes, I know it wasn't cause by another player, but they were all at risk of it and I just don't like it just like I don't like the probowl.
  11. Accidents happen, but there are some situations you can quit creating that make room for more. Preseason games aren't necessary. They don't count. Starters and key players shouldn't be put at risk of injury by players from another team; n games that don't count. Getting rid of preseason games eliminates more chances for injury to key players caused by players from another team
  12. At least you would have them for the first 1-3 games of the season, unlike getting hurt in preseason where you lose them before you get any real time out of them in games that count. If they get hurt in preseason they are useless in real season games.
  13. In general. I hate them. Too risky in games that don't count.
  14. I hate preseason games. Such an unnecessary risk to the health of players.
  15. please keep all your dog posts in here. thanks.
  16. plenty of punks have become good QBs with solid careers. not out of the realm of possibility that we've got one here.
  17. pains me to say it...but it was the right call handling it the way they did. just having the gig handed to him on a silver platter wouldn't have played over as well as letting him "compete" for the job and assert himself as the bona fide leader of the offense. i mean probably everyone "knew" that this would be the outcome and sure, it was just a show, but i think it was probably better for the team to see him work for it at the risk of missing reps. confidence gained in baker outweighs the reps he missed out to sammy in the show. he will get the needed reps soon enough, but he'll get more out of the other guys in those reps because of the confidence they have in him. all that said...i'm still not sold on baker overall but it doesn't matter if i am as long as the guys around him is and once they get into actual game situations they'll find out soon enough if that confidence is misplaced or not.
  18. nice try, but until rhule starts winning games, expect the hate and the deserved lack of confidence to keep flowing. since he is essentially at the core of this team and responsible for managing it, most issues facing the team will somehow be directly connected to him. his disapproval is going to keep showing up in most threads because all threads in the fabric of this team connect to him. you want the hate to stop? team will have to start winning first. rhule will have to prove he can coach a winning team. you don't have to like it, but no one likes losing and so far that's about all we've one with him.
  19. Jokes on you. I had already wet myself. Thanks, Depends!
  20. the problem is that he can't win more than 5 games so far. this year will probably be more...but how much more? 2 more games? and then the year after that he'll finally get us a winning season? and then how many more before we get into the playoffs? the dude just hasn't done enough to prove he's a good winning coach.
