  1. it was written after noon so he was already pretty well sloshed by then. with irsay there's the things he says and the things he does and all of it the result of heavy drinking or a nose full of coke. i think his natural instinct that caused him to replace Reich with Saturday is the same that will cause him to push for Levis. It just depends on how much influence others have on him on draft day. the fact that someone other than Saturday was given the gig shows that irsay may have someone other than him calling shots. it kind of makes them more of a wildcard with irsay not having total control over these big decisions. hard to know what sober people will do on draft day in indy.
  2. i could see this as something that will be a really good draw for free agents looking to play for a future payday. Someone who has been an underperformer who feels they just haven't been getting good coaching might want to come here. For guys who were previously coached by one of our new coaches, though, i think if they were as good as we have been told then we'll see players telling their agents to find some way to Carolina. that's what i'm hoping anyways.
  3. i love it. comparing him to williamson is a pretty big deal. there's a reason he was around for so long. the guy was good.
  4. yeah, i think too much of a thing has been made of this idea that Evero is going to be bringing in a 3-4. WHen you look at interviews of his and interviews about him, one thing that i've picked up on is that he fits the scheme to the players he has. just because he's worked more with the 3-4 doesn't mean that's all he does or could do well. If he's as smart as he appears, he's going to be able to put something that fits who we have rather than force fit this team into a mold it doesn't quite fit in without a lot of adjusting. We've got a lot of talent here and he'll find a way to make it work and work well.
  5. Yep. This isn't the group of idiots who ran the team before.....well the team led by an idiot Rhule. This is a team of coaches and a staff that has at least a hundred more years of pro experience than rhules staff of hacks. These guys have experience and poo tons of knowledge and a lot of success behind them. They know what they're doing.
  6. i was thinking about them. I don't think Gates is doing anything right now, but Gonzo has no desire to coach and i think he'll probably work with amazon again. https://www.tmz.com/watch/0-c265zeyy/ this is him basically saying that coaching takes too much time and it would be a waste of time for him.
  7. so do we know who they are talking to re: Tight tends coaching job? i was just trying to get an idea of who thy might be chasing after. i started trying to do some digging, but after about 10 minutes of googling i gave up. i see us going three routes based on what we've done so far...either guys who have been head coaches or that are on track to be a head coach or who are position coaches and assistant head coaches...or long term players who are getting into coaching. so who is... 1) a former head coach who also either was a TE or coached TEs? 2) a rising star coach who may have played TE? 3) a former stud TE who is wanting to break into coaching?
  8. I did not see that coming.... especially after watching he and Smitty battling it out for years. Wow what a staff
  9. pretty incredible staff we're getting. Added Shawn Jefferson to the OP.
  10. yeah i'm definitely seeing a trend. WIlks was valued most because he was a leader of men. It seems that "leader of men" is kind of what they are going for. Not just coaches, but ones who are valued for their leadership and teaching skills and who are on track to get head coaching jobs or at least have been valued enough in their previous organizations to be named assistant head coach. It's very possible that the coaching program here could help people become head coaches later on. Would be great of we garnered attention from prospective assistants as a place where you won't only be paid more than anywhere else, but as a solid stepping stone towards your own head coaching job.
  11. Agreed. Great situation for Bienemey to prove himself.
  12. Just because it needs to be said again....they did hire the best
  13. It's a shame we don't have other seasoned, experienced, and successful OCs to mentor him and help him grow into the job.
  14. seriously don't know how anyone could have done better than this. i feel pretty certain that there will be quite a few from this staff who goes on to be head coaches somewhere.
  15. except this team's coaching staff is being built to groom a rookie QB.
  16. Our D is young and fast and will be better prepared, schemed, and coached than it was before.
  17. I'll just say this.... Panthers + Carr > Falcons + Jackson And I think we'd be even better with Young or Stroud and eventually with AR.
  18. Stroud falling to 9 would be pretty ideal
  19. Wouldn't surprise me. Wouldn't worry me much. They have no defense. They only have $56mil in cap space so they won't have much money to get help there. The picks they would have to forfeit wouldn't help them upgrade anywhere else either. They also don't have a very good coaching staff. Slightly better than we were with Rhule. He's not much as a passer, but he's a lethal runner. It would be like the Mike vick years, except Vick was an anomaly in those days. We weren't used to running QBs. Now we are. Ravens couldn't win with Jackson and they have a better D and better coaching. I'll put this defensive coaching staff with this D against any offense ATL could come up with Lamar. Actually, if I had to choose an NFCS team to trade for Jackson, it would be the falcons. He'd be scarier with the saints or the bucs.
