  1. there's a lot ways that Carr fits what Reich is building here. If there's one thing that we've seen, if Reich likes someone and they fit what he's trying to do, he's got the green light to get him. i really don't think that Tepper or anyone in the FO is going to be upset if we overcompensate in our efforts to get QB figured out.
  2. I'm starting to think that they might both be possibilities just based on how serious this team is about fixing the offense, especially QB. They have overloaded on staff, i think, and they might take the same mindset with QB. I would say at this point and from what we've seen, be ready for some extreme work be done to get QB right not just for the immediate but the long haul. One thing that also sticks in my mind is something that Fitt said about being a top 10 pick...i think they are acting like they won't be in this position again, so they want to get everything they can out of it. the era of losing is over. If they can get the short term and long term answers to QB addressed in one offseason, i expect they will. i feel like they are going to attack this long term problem from a couple different angles with the hope of doing what they've done with staff building, bring in a wealth of experience and knowledge to team up with someone who is young, but has a bright future ahead of them.
  3. Seems like peewee Herman lacks a spine.
  4. Won't work well enough. The game has changed. It favors the offense. You try to build a defense like that and roll with a mediocre QB and you're going to get rolled more often than not. That Ravens team and season was an anomaly. We rarely see a defense dominate with mediocre QB play because it just doesn't work except in rare circumstances. Defense doesn't win championships anymore.
  5. I have guys I want and guys I don't, but I trust these coaches more than my gut or any other opinion. I'm trying to prepare myself for them picking a guy and going Just trying to be ready for anything.
  6. we should have and could have dominated the NFCS with Cam... i agree that we could and should run the NFCS for the next decade with any of the 4 top QBs of the draft. whoever they pick, it's going to be glorious.
  7. i loved Cam. i like AR and would be happy drafting him. but.... AR ≠ Cam.
  8. 10 years ago probably the highest rated QB would be Tanner McKee from Stanford. Now you have to be very mobile, which was actually one of the knocks against Stroud until the GA game. It wasn't that he wasn't mobile, it's that he didn't run much. You have to be a guy that makes stuff happen one way or another. you have to be dynamic and you have to be someone who can not just get their team motivated but the fans charged up as well. pretty much Cam Newton is the template for the modern day QB. You can win with your arm or win with your legs. you just get the job done. this has proven to be what works best in the league now. this is what puts you in a position to win championships.
  9. crap. it's on. jump right in those Lamar sweepstakes.
  10. ancient history says it's a new era. the game has changed. you have to have a top QB or you will be left behind.
  11. i'm hoping for him and Patrick Peterson.
  12. meeting with Carr is due diligence. and he needs to stay on the table unless they are 100% convinced that they can't get one of the top 4 QBs. #1 goal: Get your franchise QB. there is nothing more important that this, especially for a new coaching regime that doesn't have a franchise QB in place. plan 'A' is always draft one. plan 'B', find a vet that has enough time left that can be considered a starting QB for several years. plan 'C' (or 'S' for Sucks) is just try and get by until next year and hope and pray you've got a better option then.
  13. would not be a bad pickup at all
  14. WR and RB should really only be addressed through the draft and neither should be given a second contract. RB because it's just too easy to replace and second contracts aren't really worth it. WR because they are getting just too pricey. every once in a while you can find a bargain, but those will be rare and rarely worth the effort regardless of price.
  15. Bleacher report has historically been poo reporting. i don't know if it's gotten much better (doesn't seem like it) but they used to let any hack with a keyboard write for them. their main thing is just to get content. never mattered if any of the content was valid or close to correct.
  16. locking this thread and started a new one. man what a clsuterf*ck
  17. not going to lock this thread yet because i want to give @TheSpecialJuan a chance to post a link that works.
