Grant Gordon of NFL.com says O-line IS a thing in so many words
rayzor replied to top dawg's topic in Carolina Panthers
It wasn't this bad last year. Not even close, imo. So the question I have is what caused the regression? -
Agreed. And I did have a few years where I madey own bbq sauces and salsas. Not sure why I quit doing it. Lol I think i just lazy.

Good call. And yes, we're slacking. Spending too much time chasing down Internet marketers spamming about dinosaurs and potions made by real witches in the NFL forum.

Name 3 things you are looking for against the giants

But seriously 1) OL not looking like a bunch of lost and drunk puppies 2) defense showing that they know how to stop an offense 3) don't suck -

yes, there will be no excuses.

this. it was a damn practice game. it was our first. it was an evaluation. and it was against a team that felt it needed to have a win before winning actually matters. the whole damn thing was basically a sucker punch. so congrats to the jets on their "win". i hope y'all fall flat on your faces.

Remember when we did this?

And I'll say again, I don't want preseason games to be treated like real games. If it doesn't count, don't act like it does. Risk of injury is too great for a meaningless game. Treating it like a real game is honestly just stupid.
-
Fans are paying for them, but they aren't for the fans. These aren't GAMES. They are preseason games. There's a big difference. What the fans want should not factor into what the teams decide to do. Fans being in attendance should be irrelevant to the goals of preseason games. Fans going should know that what they are getting isn't a real game, more just a glorified practice. If they expect more, that shouldn't be a concern of the team.

i think it was kind of obvious that the jets weren't in evaluation mode to the degree that we were. they schemed. we didn't. we had no need to. this is one of the things i hate about preseason games. it's rare that both teams have the same objective. one of the many things that made belichick such a punk was that preseason games were treated the same way as regular season games, which isn't fair to the team who is just wanting to do some evaluating. it was dangerous and they came after cam big time. repeating myself, we were shut out and blown out because the jets were in it to win and make up for a loss in the HoF game and for looking bad in the joint practices. jets also had to make it look good for hard knocks. we should have been better, for sure, but let's not pretend that the jets weren't much more motivated to look better than we were to look good against the other team.

it just wasn't a level playing field. neither team was playing for the same thing. that kind of makes the game a bit dangerous. it's easy to be blindsided when you're focusing on something else than the other team.
-
the problem is that this isn't something you should have to deal with in your first preseason game. every team has an agenda for each preseason game that may or may not include scheming. i really think the only reason the jets went hard was for team morale. we were just trying to get our guys out there and used to seeing a little action. i'm not going to give the jets props for anything that they did on saturday because they were going after a team that wasn't in it to win it. panthers were in it for the reps.
-
jets looked bad in the joint practice. they "lost" the HoF game against the browns. they must have thought they needed a "win" in preseason so they schemed.

welcome back and goodbye again.

We will have a winning record this year. The OL we saw in preseason hame 1 won't be what we see the rest of the year. They will be better. Last year was their floor. Saturday was a fluke. This is not a repeat of 2011. More likely to be a repeat of 2013. We don't have a rookie HC who will take a couple years to figure stuff out and we have a rookie QB that doesn't act iike or think like or play like a rookie. And the division is legit up for grabs and the conference has few legit contenders. We have just as much a shot as anyone else at winning the division and getting into the playoffs.

I've gotten to a place where I choose friends and family over any sports or just about anything. Not sure if that makes me a great fan or not, but I'm ok with that.

I probably will only watch it when Bryce is in. Ive got birthday stuff going on with my girls so it's hard for me to justify more than that.

how important is it that we win preseason games?
rayzor replied to rayzor's topic in Carolina Panthers
But a lot of people do look at that and put a lot of stock in it. I just want to know why they think it actually matters.
