  1. there is one guy...some special forces guy that was supposed to keep everyone in check or something like that.
  2. i think it's going to be a looooong time before we have a TEAM that we can be proud of again. most likely going to be a bunch of one or two year wonders and the only ones who stick around will be ones with no personality, since it seems we are allergic to that now.
  3. SO my dad goes through this short lived phase in his early 70s where he decided he would help take care of leftovers in the refrigerator for lunches. He sees a couple leftover things that he typically likes and he just throws it into a bowl together and warms it up. i would tell him that this isn't a good idea, but he just can't understand why it wouldn't be. then one day he tried something like leftover spaghetti mixed with sauerkraut mixed with a couple other things i couldn't see and he gets about half way through his bowl and says to me, "son, i don't feel so well..."and then he's up and hustling to the bathroom and when he's done he says, "you know, maybe i shouldn't have mixed those things together." that's kind of what we had here in carolina.
  4. aside from this offseason when i bought the hype (and i'm totally fine with having finally feeling that optimism for just a moment even though it fell apart) i think i haven't really been stoked since 2015. that was a hard loss for me and i'm not sure i ever recovered from it.
  5. a buffer between tepper and GM/HC would be good. keep the teppers in their lane. good luck with that, though. i do think we don't need a mild mannered HC at this point, though. we need someone that is going to light a fire under their highly paid asses and get them working and if they won't work...
  6. trade burns for whatever you can get him for at this point. hopefully at least a first rounder. throw all your chips on speedy WRs and beefy OL all offseason.
  7. i wouldn't. that's kind of a deathbed confession type thing.
  8. this is the bryce phase of the tepper team. we'll be here for another season and a half. last phase was the rhule phase. before that was the amateur homeowner demolition phase.
  9. agreed. i just think we're at that point where this is a bryce team. teppers were sure and sold the farm for him. they've got to try and prove they weren't morons.
  10. if you're intent on proving you didn't make a mistake with him, the best chance you've got is someone who knows the pro game, knows him, and likes him. coddling? maybe, but at this point you've got to attempt to salvage the justification for your big purchase. you can't be sure about any other coaches out there. obrien is the safe bet. of course tepper isn't a safe guy. i'd more call him reckless, impulsive, quixotic, and irrational.
  11. as i'm sitting here this is making more sense to me. you throwing all your hopes on this bryce young kid and you want someone to coach him that is just as sold on him as you are and who has had success...bill obrien fits.
  12. might actually check all the boxes. high on bryce, has experience at all levels....i don't know... why not? what's the worse that can happen?
  13. man, that's exactly what its like. i still feel that young can be ok...better than clausen anyways...and i don't know who would be cam coming up next year, but i think we definitely have put ourselves in a pile of poo that we won't be able to get ourselves out of for a while.
  14. i've already checked out of next season, too. i just don't have a good feeling about anything up until 2025 and even then i'm kind of sketchy about it.
  15. yeah that's the narrative i can't buy at all...talking as if tepper jumped too quickly off of rhule when he actually did it a season and a half too late. we all saw it from the outside. you have to know there was some stuff to see from the inside. but the appropriate criticism of tepper wasn't a lack of patience with rhule, it was far too much. same could be said with both rivera and hurney both. too much patience with them. he pulled the plug on reich at the right moment. i mean we're screwed, but we were screwed anyways. time to get started looking at new HCs and hoping the recent guys don't scare them all off.
  16. you know who else had bad rookie seasons? players who went on to be bad QBs. i know it's a matter of looking at the cup either half full or half empty, but who really cares when the cup is full of piss?
  17. not the type of HC we need, but he's breathing so that's probably about all we can ask for.
