some of us saw this coming. others complained that we weren't giving him a chance. that it was because of the situations he was thrown into. that after all this time surely he's gotten better. i was hoping that they were right. they weren't, although still some blame the players, just like at tampa and 'bama. i see a more likely common denominator other than shula's just unlucky. i see an inept offense. i see a lack of scoring. i see a lack of readiness. i see a lack of preparation. i see a lack of execution. i see a lack of ability to adjust. i see a slow paced offense with a lack of excitement, energy, ambition, and inspiration. i see shulaball.

that's what i was saying. i think he did well as a QB coach. he was proven there. he was successful. as someone who manages a game and calls the plays....proven failure. you look at the path this team is on statisically for the season and where we are ranked in the league right now and then compare it to shula's previous tenure's calling an offense and you see the same thing. funny, you see the same excuses being thrown out implying that it's always someone else's fault. sorry, but i don't buy it. i see one common denominator...shula. he leaves, and the offense gets better. he arrives and the offense steps backward. not everyone who excels at their job is suited for advancement. shula and rivera both show that to be true. neither should have advanced because neither can handle the bigger job. they were just fine where they were.

he is who i feared he would be. it's just a shame the players can't execute perfectly, which apparently is needed for shula´s offense to work cause even just one mistake throws everything off and they can never adjust the offense to get back on track. it's also a shame that opposing defenses adapt to what we do because that just hurts our set in stone gameplan. i mean what's a team to do? adapt and adjust mid game to do something that works? who does that?

i think it's most likely either the guy who knows he's had a background check done and is a candidate, or his agent. if it's the agent, we'll know who it is within the next couple days. or the whole thing could be speculation....you know, poo flung from one of the poo flingers in the major media. whatever the case, tho...i don't think it's any secret to anyone that it's do or die for rivera. win now with this team or we find someone who can. i actually like that it's out there. no more pretense. it's now known that we are no longer content with losing and no longer accept excuses. i also like that the same standards used for players are used for the coaching staff. meet expectations or be replaced. you have to know that gettleman is always on the look for talent where it's needed to help this team win. it's only fair tha the coaches have to live up to that as well. another thing i like is that if it really is the players not executing that has been the reason for losses and not game management, and if rivera is really as loved by the players as we have been made to believe, then they have to know that his staying depends on them not f*cking up. they'll be holding themselves and each other a lot more accountable. here's yet another thing i'm liking. in the past we've waited until poo happens before we do anything. the writing could be on the wall, but we never do anything until the last minute. we don't have a history of being proactive....esp. where coaching hires are concerned. there's been little to no looking ahead about much of anything. all we do is react when things happen and all too often it's a measured and delayed reaction in which we miss out on opportunities, losing out to teams who do a better job of looking ahead. if this report is true, which it probably is, i don't see it as a bad thing. if rivera or the team can't handle this pressure, then a change is made anyway. the culture has to change and this mindset that we don't need to be acting desperately needs to get thrown out the window. if rivera can't handle this pressure, he's not the right man for the job. if he gets distracted by it, he's not the right man for the job. i don't think he's the best coach we could have and i don't think that he's good enough to make this team consistent winners, but i hope he is because i want this team to win now. but if he's not the right man for the job, i want the message to be clear to the rest of the team....there is only one expectation...win. if you can't help make that happen, we'll find someone who can. more than that, we're already looking for your replacement. if you want your job, convince us that you are the right man for it. don't screw up. don't get lax. do your best always.

bittersweet moment.

i think that's actually pretty realistic for him. you got to believe that most of those catches will be long ones that has him running for the end zone anyway and there's not to many defenders who can catch him from behind. plus, i could see him breaking off a return or two for a TD as well. i wouldn't even be surprised if one of his TDs came from him being used in an end around.

just think what we could be like with shockey back and playing with smitty, olsen, ginn, and lafell. i'm not sure how you stop something like that...esp. when you have a big QB like cam who is always a threat to run.

i think that's all pretty much anyone expects or really hopes for and i think he's developed enough of a chemistry with cam to pull that off.

i thiknk that what we've found out is that getting cam running early is not only the spark the O needs to get things going, but also the key to really getting the D spread out. if we have cam take off like he did against the giants i think we'll get the better of them.

yeah, their defense is pretty stout. the bucs did manage to score 10, tho. ...and that was with beanpole glennon throwing. i think we can get at least 14 from the offense and maybe another from the defense (i think the D is due for a score). meanwhile, i wouldn't be a bit surprised to see another shut out from the defense. i really can't wait to see what that pass rush can do to the cards. and their run game? fugetaboutit.

not sure why it matters if someone is overhyped by other people.

i doubt he'll get much attention until he finds his way into the endzone. bad thing for him in that regard is he's pretty much the 'between the 20's' guy. they've got other plans for other guys when they get in the red zone or at the end zone. he has been really impressive, tho.

another curiousity is how many coaches have quality control on their resume.

very interesting. good stuff. not asking for more work from mr. scot, but i'm curious to see where the more recent failures (guys that got fired) the past couple years came from.

fwiw, the last time the giants started 0-2 they won a lombardi.

i can see why both teams are winless so far. gonna be contest to see which game manager/strategist sucks less. smart money goes on the one that's actually got their team out of the gutter when it mattered before.

we do have an identity. its what we saw this past sunday. this team is that team that will have a lead in the fourth and then make possible a great comeback for the other team giving them and their fans probably the most memorable win in years and the shot of confidence they need to go forward. that's who this team is. we gift wrap exciting wins for other teams.

cam absolutely needs to be cut loose (not from the team...just the fence confining him be taken down.. in the team and his desire to become a more efficient passer he's become less of a difference maker. if we are going to score a lot of points, he's gonna have to return to being a dynamo.

combine this with the dareus comments, and i'm getting a sense that the bills might be considering themselves to be at a higher level than this lowly team from the south. i think there really is a lack of respect for the panthers. coming from a team that hasn't deserved respect in over a decade this would be very funny.

that was my whole reason for watching much of the 2010 season.

i've got plantar fascitis right now. i got it towards the end of july and its still hurting when i wake up and when i spend even an hour walking around. it's a frustrating and very nagging injury that takes a long time to heel. in the literature i got from the doctors office it said that 80% may be pain free in about a year. my wife thought that was funny for some reason. point is, he's not going to be playing anywhere near 100% if he plays, at least not for very long. i think their secondary as is will be easy to exploit and even if byrd is there and able to play, he's just one guy. throw to someone that isn't being covered by him. i think our secondary will still be a weak link, but i think that manuel will be easier to pressure and rattle than wilson and i hope he does try to go vertical because it's quite likely he'll be forcing some throws that will be result in bad/ill-timed throws that our DB will find easy to capitalize on, which is one thing they are good at doing....capitalizing on mistakes the QB makes.
