REPORT: Panthers are not interested in Baker Mayfield

Crap. That means we're giving up a first round pick for him. -
Post Mortem on the Watson Trade (from Albert Breer)
rayzor replied to Mr. Scot's topic in Carolina Panthers
Yeah I wasn't crazy about it. I have said many times I didn't want us trading for anyone this year. We wasted too much capital on trades last year and we need to wait until we've paid for all that. I really didn't like how much it was going to cost to get him. Already being in a hole, we'd just be digging a bigger one. And then there was the legal/sexual misconduct stuff. Too many questions there and considering how much it was going to cost to get him, it's just made the risk even greater. Point being, I didn't want to trade for him. And there were quite a few others who didn't either. -

Tre Boston says Panthers may be adding another S
rayzor replied to UNCrules2187's topic in Carolina Panthers
That would have been nice. -
No need for the insult. To the OP, it's been a minute since we've been respectable at all in the return game. Not really since Smitty really early in his career have we had any kind of consistent and good return game. Since then it's been only a couple instances where we had a jaw dropping return. The rest has been pretty meh. It would be nice to have a respectable return game again. It's been way too long.

It's good to want things. I just hope we don't. Not him. Not for that.

That's how we roll (over).

No. Next question.

Be worse than drafting a corner.

I'd rather not trade for any player, but if we were bound and determined to I'd do this at the most

None of these moves matter without our franchise QB
rayzor replied to Kraybrothers's topic in Carolina Panthers
I wouldn't use the word excited. I said they were learning. Taking steps in the right direction. They still have a ways to go and if Rhule still has to ok them, they aren't looking in the tiny fishbowl Rhule was using to find talent. They've improved there. It's ok to say something good about the team every once in a while if it looks like they possibly might be doing something better than they were. I said they also need to find a good LT and good QB, both of which are still big problem areas that have to be addressed with someone who can contribute at a high level right away. I don't see both of those happening. And I said winning record, not playoff caliber. There's a difference and even then it's a stretch saying that Rhule could take this team that far (although as bad as the falcons and saints are looking, if Brady starts falling off this year, we could be the turd that floats to the top but gets flushed anyways). -

The FO is finally learning how to build it right....or they already knew and it was just a matter of taking control away from Rhule (control that he should never have had). Whatever the case, they are doing it right and it's a formula that they can rinse and repeat. Now it's just a matter of what Rhule does with the team the FO is giving him. We tried it Rhule's way with Rhule deciding on and controlling personnel and we fell on our face twice. Now he gets a chance with more legit talent, picked by someone else, that isn't predictated on their relationship with him. If we get a decent LT and a QB that's half decent, we might see a winning record. Downside is Rhule might stick for a while longer
