Scouting reports for the top three quarterbacks
rayzor replied to Verge's topic in Carolina Panthers
Good write up in all three and I hope you're right about them being better than advertised because it sure seems like we'll end up with one of them. And I've said from the beginning that Willis is the most interesting prospect to me from this class and I haven't seen anything to dissuade me from that. Thanks for sharing it. -
If he had done it last year, maybe. Too little, too late. I guess he thought he was getting one last year, at least in age, but instead he go a guy who has been playing like a mid round rookie for 4 years. This year he's planning drafting a mid round QB prospect in the first round. What could go wrong? Especially when you HAVE to prove you can win this year. And if he does fail and get fired, then it could very well be that this would have been a wasted first round pick because the next coach will want his guy at QB, which is the way it should be. Forcing him to stick with a bad decision made by his predecessor who was fired for consistently making bad decisions would really put that coach behind. The whole thing is a long shot.

That should have been the expectation. A good coach would have made that happen, especially one that had control over personnel. From the outset, that should have been the expectation along with a playoff run in year three. Make it happen. You chose the coaches. You chose the players. It's your team.... Make it happen. I don't want a revolving door, but more than that, I don't want us settling for a bad coach. What makes it so bad is the contract he was given. I know, not my money, but someone committed to success should have expected more and should not settle for less. Rhule was a bad hire. Giving him that much control was a mistake. Giving him that much money and that long of a contract was a mistake. When you make a mistake, you fix it. Tepper didn't and we're stuck with a mistake. I'm a fan of a team that doesn't know how to win. Am I impatient? Damn right. I'm not settling for failure just because I'm "a fan." The point of the game is winning and we are consistently missing the point and have done it for years. We've never been a team that is consistently good, but there used to be up years that you could see a bit of sunshine. Since Tepper bought the team, that just hasn't happened. My problem is, we are making mistakes over and over. When we do make mistakes, we aren't noticing fast enough and then we aren't doing enough to rectify it. It seems that some of Rhule's power or at least influence in personnel decisions have been tweaked, so there is a sliver of hope there. But so far, Rhule has been a failure and this being Tepper's team, he's a failure too. The burden is on them to prove they aren't. They don't get a restart. The expectation for year 3 of Rhule's tenure is a playoff run. You see that happening? I sure don't. I'd like to be wrong and I hope I am, but I have zero confidence in Rhule making that happen because he's given me no reason to believe that's possible.

We weren't playoff bound, but last year should have been a winning season. You give a coach that kind of contract and he sure as he'll should have been winning. For any head new head coach with a team, the expectation should be winning year two and playoffs year three. No excuses. You don't pull those off, you're looking for a new job.

8-9 season should not be something to look forward to. It would be another losing year for a losing team and should result in Rhule's firing. Seriously, if anyone is happy with a thing less than a winning record for the Panthers, you need to start setting the bar higher and quit settling for losing poo this franchise keeps feeding us. Raise the bar. The expectation should be a deep run in the playoffs for this coach.

Crap. That means we're giving up a first round pick for him. -
Post Mortem on the Watson Trade (from Albert Breer)
rayzor replied to Mr. Scot's topic in Carolina Panthers
Yeah I wasn't crazy about it. I have said many times I didn't want us trading for anyone this year. We wasted too much capital on trades last year and we need to wait until we've paid for all that. I really didn't like how much it was going to cost to get him. Already being in a hole, we'd just be digging a bigger one. And then there was the legal/sexual misconduct stuff. Too many questions there and considering how much it was going to cost to get him, it's just made the risk even greater. Point being, I didn't want to trade for him. And there were quite a few others who didn't either. -

Tre Boston says Panthers may be adding another S
rayzor replied to UNCrules2187's topic in Carolina Panthers
That would have been nice. -
No need for the insult. To the OP, it's been a minute since we've been respectable at all in the return game. Not really since Smitty really early in his career have we had any kind of consistent and good return game. Since then it's been only a couple instances where we had a jaw dropping return. The rest has been pretty meh. It would be nice to have a respectable return game again. It's been way too long.

It's good to want things. I just hope we don't. Not him. Not for that.

That's how we roll (over).

No. Next question.

Be worse than drafting a corner.
