  1. Rhule makes it an impossible situation. He's the thing that is keeping me from having any real confidence in this team. He's such a frustrating presence. Maybe he'll do the right thing, but he's just got these tendencies that make me cringe. I don't trust him because I don't think he knows what he's doing.
  2. That's the big thing. If he knows what he wants to do and who he wants to do it, then Rhule needs to let him.
  3. I feel like I'm getting reeled back in, but aside from replacing Rhule they're starting to do everything I was hoping they'd do.
  4. The man has a plan that Corral fits better than anyone. I'm looking forward to seeing it.
  5. Which it sounds like they were really considering giving up but hedged their bets he'd still be there.
  6. i used to want him on the team. then i realized that he's allergic to tackling. congrats, saints. you want him to tackle? honey badger don't care.
  7. Much more disciplined approach but still very active. Crazy.
  8. you fight through all that and you become a fighter by identity. that's a key part in being a good QB, imo. you don't quit and that seems to fit in really well with other people's assessment of him as a relentless competitor. i watched some games of his that things got pretty ugly, including things that he did but what i didn't see was a guy who quit or got too frazzled. he just pushed and always gave his team a chance (which is something i didn't really see in sammy at all).
  9. the hardest thing for any owner or manager to do is to trust someone working for you to do their job and not get too involved yourself. the temptation to micromanage is hard to overcome.
  10. Which is really going to make it difficult to find out what we've got in Corral.
  11. How did Darnold do in TC last year? I don't really remember much other than them coddling him and holding him out of preseason games, which they likely won't do with either him or Corral this year. I don't think it was anything special from Darnold other than he's making all the throws and that kind of thing. Nothing really jaw dropping one way or the other, iirc. I guess point is, if it's Darnold's job to lose...if he doesn't do too bad without pressure coming at him in TC, he might just keep the job for Day 1. Preseason games are going to be the earliest tell and that's if they don't hold him out again.
  12. can any of them do returns? That's the biggest issue right now.
  13. true. at the very least he gives us a better backup option than we've had since DA. I think just because of having CMC healthy (for a while) and an upgraded OL, sammy will look better. hopefully not enough to justify rhule keeping Corral on the sidelines. I just don't trust Rhule and if Corral doesn't get a shot in play time, I'm not going to necessarily hold it against Corral. I'm hoping that Corral just blows the doors off in TC. Sammy's problem, though, isn't exactly practicing. It's what happens when the pressure is on in games when live bullets are flying.
  14. imo he's the most exciting QB we've aside from Cam. I've said elsewhere that he can make watching the panthers offense fun again. He's got a lot of the same kind of play making traits. Of course not as good, but still very talented and can make stuff happen when the pressure is on. totally agree here. i think the picture is filling out. winning season will be tough because it's a tough looking group of opponents, but it's still very doable...unless we revert back to Sammy running the offense, which i could totally see Rhule letting happen because he would rather play a bad vet than a promising rookie. i still think that unless we make a deep run in the playoffs that Rhule should be fired. i doubt that's Tepper's standard, though. His standards are pretty low, apparently. Rhule doesn't really have excuses for not putting together at least a winning season, though. Also, I'm not at all worried about Icky. He'll be solid from day 1.
  15. Hopefully Corral shows enough that we don't have to. If we can get 6 games out of him we should be able to get a good idea about him.
  16. I think yes, especially him being a rookie. You're going to naturally want to rely more heavily on the run game for any rookie. I think the offense needs to definitely be built around what he's good at and take into consideration what he's not too good at (the long ball). Also totally agreed on him needing to not try to bulldoze defenders.
  17. Rhule is the real wild card here. Will Rhule trust a rookie over a vet, even if the rookie looks to be better? I don't know. He sure didn't do that last year. I fully suspect that regardless of how well Corral does, Rhule won't trust him over Sammy and will be forced to make the change.... probably due to injury.
  18. True and he got hurt scrambling in the pocket. He does take on defenders a good bit and I'm not crazy about that, but like I said he's also good about sliding and I'd like to see a lot more of that when he takes off running.
  19. Hmmm.... Lol I guess I blocked that out of my head. Not surprised, though. I mean he's the guy that tried trading up for Clausen.
