definitely looks like he could be a steal. not necessarily a starter, but as a guy who can be put in to give guys a breather or fill in due to injuries he could be a key cog. we've been needing a Geoff Hangartner guy who can do it all. hopefully Mays is that.

i wouldn't hate it if we could find some way to unload sammy and esp. his contract. it would be good to have a derek anderson type "older brother" for MC like DA was for Cam and if we can't get Cam to do it, Foles would be fine enough.

Probably so. He should never have been given them. I'm hoping that the loss of control on the GM side of things also extends to the coaching side of things. with such an experienced and good group of coaches working with him now, he really needs to keep his hands in his pockets, mouth shut, eyes and ears opened. let the coaches used to not just working within the league, but used to handling grown ups do what they are experienced and proven at and just learn from them on how to be a good coach at the pro level. it takes a lot more than a fishing trip with a retired coach to learn how to do the job at this level.

i think last year was part of the plan and that was the problem. i think rhule needed to be steered in the right direction because he was off course as soon as he hit the track as head coach. he basically thought he knew a lot more than he did. it's not all just football. there's a bit more to it in all capacities at the pro level and i think he (and tepper) underestimated just how different it was from college.

pretty much. i've still got the Rhule hang up and i don't trust him, but if he's letting up on the reigns and letting others do their job without him micromanaging, then it's a bit easier. if i knew what they were going to do at QB, it would be a LOT easier. but i swear, this team is making me bipolar.

Rhule can do the pep talks and coordinate practices.

I really liked the end where he talked about Corral vs. Pickett. Pickett will do everything just fine. He'll do just enough but he'll work within borders. He'll take the safe route. Corral pushes those borders and he takes risks. Yes, there's some hero ball going on, but when its the last couple minutes and the game is on the line and you need points quickly, do you want someone who plays it safe or so you want someone who is going to try and accomplish the impossible? Someone who is going to take risks and push borders? I think that Pickett will look better in his rookie year because he'll make less mistakes, but someone like Corral is going to grow into a bigger star and do bigger things because he took the risks.

The best thing he can do is nothing. The best thing he can do to help the team win is do nothing. Let the GMs make personnel decisions and let his coaches run the show.

I'm just not a fan of making fun of someone's addiction.

I was talking to a mechanic today who told me he was 59. Guy looks like he's been around forever and remember telling someone he was this old guy who has a big shop in his back yard. I could have sworn he was at least 15 or 20 years older than me. He's only 7 years older. oye.

I can't get over how good of a pick up this was. how the hell did we luck up on this?

Corral has the arm, just not the accuracy. but to be clear, its not like he's Wild Thing throwing missiles ten yards away from target. Its just something he needs to clean up and he should be able to do that. Howell has the better long ball to be sure, but Corral does everything else better. A good OC can develop a playbook and scheme that works around the QBs strengths and weaknesses. A good OC is what we have now. I'm not worried. in fact I'm getting excited to see what MacAdoo has in mind for MC. The only thing I'm worried about is Rhule's level of control over the decision making process of who starts when. And for the unlearned.... Wild Thing =

Rhule makes it an impossible situation. He's the thing that is keeping me from having any real confidence in this team. He's such a frustrating presence. Maybe he'll do the right thing, but he's just got these tendencies that make me cringe. I don't trust him because I don't think he knows what he's doing.

That's the big thing. If he knows what he wants to do and who he wants to do it, then Rhule needs to let him.

I feel like I'm getting reeled back in, but aside from replacing Rhule they're starting to do everything I was hoping they'd do.

The man has a plan that Corral fits better than anyone. I'm looking forward to seeing it.

Which it sounds like they were really considering giving up but hedged their bets he'd still be there.

i used to want him on the team. then i realized that he's allergic to tackling. congrats, saints. you want him to tackle? honey badger don't care.

Much more disciplined approach but still very active. Crazy.

you fight through all that and you become a fighter by identity. that's a key part in being a good QB, imo. you don't quit and that seems to fit in really well with other people's assessment of him as a relentless competitor. i watched some games of his that things got pretty ugly, including things that he did but what i didn't see was a guy who quit or got too frazzled. he just pushed and always gave his team a chance (which is something i didn't really see in sammy at all).

the hardest thing for any owner or manager to do is to trust someone working for you to do their job and not get too involved yourself. the temptation to micromanage is hard to overcome.

Which is really going to make it difficult to find out what we've got in Corral.
