Reaction to Carolina Panthers 1st round pick
rayzor replied to kungfoodude's topic in Carolina Panthers
i've kind of prepared myself. i've got low expectations for the draft and the season overall so i'm not going to get worked up.... not too much anyways. -
No. This guy.
-
I'll watch it, but I'm probably the least invested I've been in many years. I'll just say I'm not excited about it. More curious than anything and not a good curious.

Huge need + top tier talent = Huge need + mediocre talent =

not this year. not with this group.

I quit trying. his head is stuck. he wants a QB this year and it doesn't matter if it pans out or not because we can try again next year. He thinks that good LTs are easy to find and not much of a priority...no reason to try and secure a long term solution there. better to take a gamble on a QB with limited potential than an LT with poo tons. anything you say to the contrary, apparently, is an insult to his intelligence. you can't reason with that.
-
franchise QBs can be stumbled upon anywhere in the first round. the idea that the only place you can find them is in the first half dozen picks is a myth and believing it, to use a word that has been used a lot in this thread, is delusional. it's not like you're drafting a more certain thing like LT.
-
the hard pill to swallow is that we'd be better off drafting a stud OT who will anchor the line for a decade or more this year than a JAG QB this year, esp. at #6, who will likely be replaced by a new coach when Rhule eventually gets fired. it's just better value, esp. long term. the desire/desperation for getting a QB is pushing the value above where it should be. it's highly unlikely that this year contains within it a franchise QB that we will be building around for the next decade, but it is highly likely that this draft contains within it an LT that will anchor our line for a decade.
-
do they genuinely like them or is their like motivated by desperation? also, do we want to invest in a QB with a low chance of success and a low ceiling rather than wait till next year and take advantage of the rare wealth of OL talent available this year to fill a gaping hole that's been an issue for a decade?
-
I don't want it, but that's the bed they made. They need to be forced to lay in it. These were the geniuses that didn't just waste multiple picks on him, but also picked up his fifth year option. Deal with it. Get it over with.

I've been telling y'all. Its gonna be another frickin corner.

record only effects 3 games. was just 2 until the 17th game was added. 6 games against division. 4 games against one division in conference (your division faces the same division) 4 games against one division from non-conference (your division faces the same division) 2 games vs teams of the same ranking within their division from your conference (not from the one your division is playing) + one game with a non-conference team with same ranking within their division (not from the one your division is playing)

Good. Will help in my planning to do anything but watch that poo.

Austrians are sneaky mean. it's the home of Red Bull. those guys are highly caffeinated beasts traversing the alps. they'll kick you in the face and yodel over your bloody corpse.

Icky and Moton as bookends... i'd love it. and then with a Corbett, Bozeman, BC interior.... i'd almost say after that, trade all the rest of the picks away and add them onto next year's draft, pack it up, and go home before we fug anything up. -

would not hate. at all. -
the problem (or opportunity?) is this is the brain trust that picked and paid Bridgewater and Darnold and keeps PJ around. If Rhule has his fingers in this... how good could the selection actually be?
-
at this point and the way that this team has been run (into the ground), sammy is the QB we deserve.

preach it.

Panthers terminating Rock Hill project agreements
rayzor replied to Dorian Gray's topic in Carolina Panthers
plenty of good reasons for both. -
No trades for any player. Not this year.

Same with DL coaches. I still remember Sal Sunseri shocking some mom who had just brought her two younger sons to training camp one year. He just let it loose and her face went white and for some reason she looked at me like "Can you believe that?" and i just looked at her, shrugged, and said, "that's Sal."

What are some positives to come out of the Tepper era?
rayzor replied to Sean Payton's Vicodin's topic in Carolina Panthers
i'll be in my 70's by then. i'm guessing i won't care too much at that point. hopefully there will have been a owner change by then and we've won a championship or two.
