  1. but things like this does add a bit more to their motivation. and if baker has won over the team, his guys are going to make sure they do everything they can to make it as ugly as possible for the browns organization...and that's who the fire will be towards, not the browns players... the organization that treated him like poo. he's going to make it look like an even bigger mistake that they got rid of him for watson.
  2. done. i have a feeling that we're going to see a performance kind of on the level of smitty vs. the panthers. baker might even have a career game against them.
  3. i'm sure that's been the sentiment ever since word broke that they were interested in the first place. just because you are a "professional" doesn't mean you don't know when you've been screwed by someone else and that you are devoid of any feelings about it. i've never understood why you have to pretend like it's not a big deal. you can express those thoughts and still stay under control not coming across like a raving lunatic...and then come in and tear them apart.
  4. He's an improvement on Hubbard and an addition to the WR corps giving us another dimension. I think he can play the slot, but he can line up anywhere. I said before, he can be used like Cordarrelle Patterson. A true hybrid guy.
  5. ...and hasn't done very well at any of them. They can have him. I'll take that pick for someone like him anytime.
  6. Just another point of interest, the injury Brees got in his last game as a charger was a torn labrum.
  7. This helps makes sense of it ..... and gets me a little excited. What little I've seen of the guy, he's someone you can expect to be open for quick throws. I mean he's not a fast guy but you can expect to get the ball to him quickly. And he's tough and he's fuggin reliable. I don't want to say he's kind of like Cordarrelle Patterson...but you know what, he kind of is. Don't think you'd want to keep him as a possession receiver type, but out of the backfield and quick screen passes the guy is lethal. Nice safety outlet for a improvisational instinctual QB and a creative OC who likes to keep the ball moving quickly.
  8. was he sore before the game or after?
  9. he looked like he was trying to be gentle in that drill they posted. i'd say at this point it might be just under 50/50 he plays week 1, especially if they intend for him to be the starter the rest of the season. they won't push him early if they have long term plans for him....at least that's the smart play and what i would do. we're talking rhule here so who knows.
  10. i don' think he's in any real danger of getting cut. traded...maybe, but not cut. they probably won't fight to keep him off IR if he gets hurt, but even then it would probably be a "designated to return" deal. he may not get a jersey often, but he'll be on the roster.
  11. depends on who you're talking to.
  12. you don't. he was a charger for 5 years (drafted 2nd round/32nd overall in 2001 draft). first year he sat behind doug flutie and only saw the field game. next year ('02) he got the start and went 8-8 and threw 17 TDs:16 INTs, almost 3300 yards. third year ('03) as a starter he got hurt and had a 2-9 record starting. 11 TDs:15 INTs. 2100 yards. result: chargers weren't impressed and drafted Eli Manning (then traded for Rivers when Eli said he wasn't going to play for the chargers). In '04, his fourth year in the league (third as a starter), he blew up and even though he threw for less than 3200 yards, he still threw 27 TDs and only 7 INTs and they had their first winning record in nearly a decade. the next year ('05) he came back down to earth a little but still threw over 3500 yards, 24 TDs and 15 INTs. last game of the season he got hurt pretty bad...messed up shoulder. he was up for a new contract and they offered him one filled with all kinds of incentives and he decided he'd walk. with Rivers sitting behind him he could see the writing on the wall. Had he stayed, he would have eventually become the backup because they had given Rivers a massive contract (6 year- $41mil/$15mil guaranteed). So he was an ok QB with one really good year out of 5, but it wasn't until he got to his second team that he really took off...when he had something to prove. even then, when he was a free agent, he was essentially the 2nd favorite FA behind dante cuplepper who was trying to come back from an injury himself. no one expected what he did in new orleans because aside from that one year out of 5, he hadn't really shown much. that '04 pro-bowl year looked like a fluke.
  13. this year he is. next year depends largely on what Baker does this year.
  14. I wanted Corral, but these kind of things are winning me over.
  15. He's on IR. He's a nonfactor and a non issue this year. Pretty much no reason to really talk about him until next season when he becomes relevant again. Time to focus on the guy we've got this year and hope for the best.
  16. Interesting comparison. I hope it's an accurate one.
  17. Yeah, it's beaten me down pretty bad. Hanging on by a thread here. Wouldn't be jumping to another team or anything. Would just lose interest and find something better to do that won't constantly frustrate me. It's just not much fun anymore. I'm hoping Baker changes that for me.
  18. I could see myself doing that and I hope he gives me reason to. I mean I'll be pulling for him but I'm not optimistic yet. I'm just curious more than anything.
  19. Doesn't mean I have to like it or that my opinion matters. I just don't like the risk involved. Never have. And I don't have to.
