I just turned off my ad blocker and it worked. First time I've read a Charlotte observer article in many years.

Panthers receive permission to interview Sean Payton
rayzor replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
It's just a game and the goal is to win it all. I think he could make that happen, but the capital it would likely take to get him would probably hurt us that's the biggest issue I've got. -

Why not interview Byron Leftwich? He's going to eventually be a HC and he probably would have been the Jags HC if he didn't back out last year. I mean he's a legit option. Not at the top of my list, but he's worth an interview. Imo, you interview as many as you can.

What if Stroud doesn’t declare for draft…
rayzor replied to mc52beast's topic in Carolina Panthers
he would do himself no good by not going to the NFL unless that's just something that he really doesn't care about, which could be the truth. i think the same thing was true for Luck. Now i'm not putting Stroud and Luck in the same category of talent. But you can tell that the NFL just wasn't the dream for luck that it is for most college players. Luck delayed going because it just wasn't that big of a deal to go and he retired early because it just wasn't that big of a deal to stay. Basically the NFL wasn't that big of a deal to him. If Stroud stays in college this year, or even of he's seriously contemplating it, i don't want him. Give me someone who really wants it and wants nothing more than being a player in the NFL. that guy is going to fight for the opportunity and he's going to be and stay hungry. -
no plans to keep dwelling on it, but you keep the conversation going.

Btw, as soon as I saw this thread started I just rolled my eyes and thought "no good can come from this" Just don't see the point of dwelling on it or stirring this poo up. I mean y'all can keep beating this dead horse if you want, but it doesn't change the fact that the horse is dead and you're just wasting your time stressing and arguing over this poo

Y'all are just going to give yourselves unnecessary ulcers if you keep on dwelling on this whole CMC thing. Do yourselves a favor and just let it go. It is what it is and what it is is something that just doesn't matter anymore. It happened, get over it.

i know people want youth, and to a degree i do too...but what i think is more wanted is adaptability. someone who isn't stuck in their ways and is constantly evolving from where they are. i think that reich is that and if tepper decides that wilks should be the HC, i really hope that reich is the OC because i think that will give us what we've been wanting and lacking. one thing wilks seems to be able to do well is avoid micromanaging. he lets his coordinators do their job their way and trust them to get the job done. because of reich's age, i don't think that there'd be many more people coming after him to HC so we likely wouldn't have to worry about him being poached, which is another issue people have with keeping wilks and making sure he gets a good OC guy.

he's got to be in a permanent state of hangover.

if it was a decision made after 1pm it's pretty much the result of him being drunk. after 2pm it's the result of him doing coke. afternoons are not the time that he should be making any decisions.

i think that's what happens when you make Jeff Saturday your head coach.
-
Might be that a Wlks/Reich combo might be best for something like that.
-
the thing is, i would take Wilks over any of those guys you listed there. i think wilks is a legit contender for the job. the only issue is being a defensive coach. i really like wilks and i hope he's got an answer for OC that is lights out. wilks is my favorite, but i've got to admit to a bit of bias towards him. i just like the guy and the fact that the players like his so much is a bigger factor to me than it has been with other supposed player's coaches. i like him more than i did rivera or fox. i'd be really happy with most of these top options. not really crazy about Kellen Moore or Ken Dorsey, but i am digging Johnson, Steichen, and even Reich. But you pair up Wilks with one of these young up and coming OCs and i think we'd be set there as well. my brain tells me that we'd be better with one of these offensive minds running the show but my gut is telling me that if we can get Wilks paired up with a good aggressive and innovative OC, then we'd be really hard to beat too.

yeah, there are a lot of really good options beyond QB at 9. as much as i would like to go offense, esp. QB in round 1, if we had QB taken care of i would love to address the edge and get someone good on the other side of Burns.

it depends on how Carr did. i think 2 years is plenty of time to show what he could do. if we had a stable coaching situation, 1 year would be enough. but if Carr shows to be strong, then we should definitely be open to keeping him and riding that horse as long as we can, but still keep working on developing a QB behind him, which is something that we didn't really do with Jake. there wasn't really a plan 'B' with Jake except Carr's brother who was forced to start way too early in his rehab from the damage done by houston. Derek Carr is 31 years old, which for a good vet QB isn't really old. He's probably got another 5 or 6 really good years left in him. i know we'd like to have that 10-15 year franchise QB, but those guys are increasingly rare. if you can get a guy that plays solid for you for 5-6 years, i think you're ahead of the curve.

If the Ravens are moving on from Lamar should we knock on that door?
rayzor replied to TheBigKat's topic in Carolina Panthers
ravens aren't letting him go. -
i think much of what didn't work for the raiders this year was due to mcdaniels as head coach. i don't think that i'd want to pay Carr that $35mil, but i think he would have been more worthy of the price we paid for Darnold.
-
if we aren't going to be able to get one of the top QB options in the first, we should probably be looking at another vet and Carr is probably the best option we're going to find. i really like the guy. high character. good leader. bad fit with mcdaniels who is still a punk kid wearing pants too big for him. like i said before, Lamar and him are two i'd be pretty happy with. I seriously doubt Lamar is going to leave the ravens anytime soon. they'll tag him before they let him go. i wouldn't trade for Carr...wouldn't need to and i think every other interested team knows this. btw, i don't think even if we do get Carr that we shouldn't still draft a QB. Absolutely we should keep swinging....just swing for a mid round guy and let Carr mentor Corral and whoever else we draft. one thing that Carr would do is make our offense competitive right away. and i totally agree that if we had him last year we and we started with Wilks several weeks earlier we would have been looking at a 9 or 10 win season this year and we would have been division champs.

Who?

i wouldn't mind this at all.
