i think you're right about that list. most likely teams to trade up with chicago are already in front of us so it won't really affect us one way or another. i don't see chicago, zona, seattle, detroit, vegas, or atlanta going QB so that leaves just houston and indy. i think tampa would likely go with a vet and for some reason i also keep seeing them take tanner mckee from stanford (i see it myself, i don't see them mocking him to them). or maybe hendon hooker. anyways, i'm not really worried about them jumping ahead of us. i think the titans will also go the vet route. we could still very well get a good QB at 9, but i think that whoever we get for HC is going to be the big difference maker. fortunately we have some good prospects for developing a QB. if we go with wilks...i think we're going to be handicapped in our ability to develop one.

My guess... Brady-raiders Mac Jones- pats with O'Brien as his OC Daniel Jones- giants Rodgers-titans Jackson-ravens (tagged) Tannehill- falcons Lance- vikings (as a backup up to start '23 and then replacing cousins) Garrapolo- jets Bridgewater - saints (again) Carr- bucs Baker- dolphins Geno- seahawks Darnold- panthers (backup/bridge QB) Minshew- commanders

imposed cap of 9 or self-inflicted?

Looks like that's what we want to do with prospective new offensive minded coaches...choose their DC for them. it shouldn't be a problem for Wilks anymore than it would be for those other guys to have coordinators chosen for them. after rhule insisting on his college crew come with him, i think that we have more than enough reason to be skeptical and even a bit controlling of an HC wanting his own crew. Get the best coordinators possible, not necessarily the ones that the HC feels most comfortable with.

i have wanted an offensive minded coach since 2007 when i started wanting Fox gone. i was kind of conflicted in regards to wilks because i really like him and i love that the players love him. but, like you said, they blew some games that would have helped secure wilks a full time job. it sucks for wilks because i think he's a good coach, but he got dealt a crappy hand here and in AZ. the biggest thing working against him is that he's a defensive minded coach in a league trending towards the offense. the players love him, but that wasn't enough to win crucial games. he just didn't pull the best out of them.

Can't imagine Prescott will finish his career in Dallas. Of course it is Dallas where they always choke and then keep complaining about the QB and coaching staff but never do anything about it.

After how many years of a losing record? Yeah I would be. Bar is set low.

Go on record now before the hire is made Re: Sean Payton
rayzor replied to GOAT's topic in Carolina Panthers
I think y'all are stressing over nothing because he's not coming here. It just won't happen. Tepper is probably blinded by the shiny and he'll throw his heart and everything out there to get him, but it will either be too late or he'll just go with someone he really wants to be with. Tepper and the Panthers just won't be what he's looking for and if Tepper gets too eager, I've got to think that Fitt or someone reels him back in and keeps him from selling the farm for him. -
not what i would want, but 1) it's a big need (one of many) and 2) i can see it happening. definitely in the realm of probably gonna happen.

if it's a very late first rounder, i'm not going to cry. just the fact that we were good enough to warrant a late first rounder would make it worth it, imo. if we're still picking in the top 10...then we got issues. -

the only thing that i wouldn't like is having to trade picks to get him i don't want us trading picks for a player. i definitely wouldn't want us having to trade picks to get a coach, but i'll get over it. -

i don't like him, but i don't have to like him. he was a good coach in new orleans and he always gave us a hard time. i was happy he left there. i really believe that he'd be successful here and that's all that matters. if we can win a ring with him and brady...bring them both in. one added bonus to hiring payton and winning would be that the saints fans would hate it. that in itself would be enough. -
Graziano: Fangio leading DC Candidate in Carolina for Young HC
rayzor replied to UNCrules2187's topic in Carolina Panthers
agreed, but if we had wilks as HC, that QB coach from Philly as OC, and Fangio and then we drafted a QB i think we'd do better than we have done. the thing is i don't think that wilks would agree to having his DC picked out for him. -
keep the TB stuff in the TB.

Graziano: Fangio leading DC Candidate in Carolina for Young HC
rayzor replied to UNCrules2187's topic in Carolina Panthers
agreed with most of that except i think reich is a few tiers ahead of wilks. caldwell is a bit ahead of him as well. both of those guys are offensive and have had a good bit of success. reich having more recent success matters more to me. i think payton is a prick, but we'd win with him and i'm desperately tired of not winning....so he'd be our prick. -

it doesn't matter who the HC is....Fangio should be the DC. If he wants the gig, you give it to him and tell the HC "this is your DC". You don't give them a choice. if they want someone else, they aren't interested in winning as much as they are helping out their buddies and then you don't want them anyways. -
same here. would be good with Kafka as well. Richardson is a 'swing for the fences' type pick, which is exactly what you need and paring him with Steichen seems like the best thing to do since he seemed to do well with Hurts. I'd be really good with Johnson or Kafka, but I think if we need to really develop a QB then Steichen is the man. Though I think that Kafka might be good doing that as well. Steichen I think would do a really good job, probably better than the other choices, at adapting everything to what Richardson does well.

The job is open, so why not? And if they are set in getting a young rookie offensive minded coach, would you not want to make sure that they have a DC with HC experience? I think that's what this is. It's anticipation of getting a young offensive guy. And if you're hoping for a guy like Fangio is is going to be heavily in demand, them you can't wait for your HC to get sorted and then figure out his staff. They may not know the HC they want, but they've got an idea of the type guy they want and they know they're going to want a seasoned experienced vet coach with him. I just don't have a problem with this at all.

Sticking with Rhule.

That does sound like a great balanced prospective combo.
