I did not see that coming.... especially after watching he and Smitty battling it out for years. Wow what a staff -

Coaching Staff: Final Pieces (as of 2-23-23)

yeah i'm definitely seeing a trend. WIlks was valued most because he was a leader of men. It seems that "leader of men" is kind of what they are going for. Not just coaches, but ones who are valued for their leadership and teaching skills and who are on track to get head coaching jobs or at least have been valued enough in their previous organizations to be named assistant head coach. It's very possible that the coaching program here could help people become head coaches later on. Would be great of we garnered attention from prospective assistants as a place where you won't only be paid more than anywhere else, but as a solid stepping stone towards your own head coaching job. -
Agreed. Great situation for Bienemey to prove himself.
-
Just because it needs to be said again....they did hire the best
-
It's a shame we don't have other seasoned, experienced, and successful OCs to mentor him and help him grow into the job.
-
seriously don't know how anyone could have done better than this. i feel pretty certain that there will be quite a few from this staff who goes on to be head coaches somewhere.

surprised it was this much.

Interesting twist regarding Lamar Jackson...

except this team's coaching staff is being built to groom a rookie QB. -
Our D is young and fast and will be better prepared, schemed, and coached than it was before.
-
He'd still have half a team. They got no D.
-
I'll just say this.... Panthers + Carr > Falcons + Jackson And I think we'd be even better with Young or Stroud and eventually with AR.
-
Stroud falling to 9 would be pretty ideal

Wouldn't surprise me. Wouldn't worry me much. They have no defense. They only have $56mil in cap space so they won't have much money to get help there. The picks they would have to forfeit wouldn't help them upgrade anywhere else either. They also don't have a very good coaching staff. Slightly better than we were with Rhule. He's not much as a passer, but he's a lethal runner. It would be like the Mike vick years, except Vick was an anomaly in those days. We weren't used to running QBs. Now we are. Ravens couldn't win with Jackson and they have a better D and better coaching. I'll put this defensive coaching staff with this D against any offense ATL could come up with Lamar. Actually, if I had to choose an NFCS team to trade for Jackson, it would be the falcons. He'd be scarier with the saints or the bucs.

A Statistical Analysis of Signing Carr vs. Trading for L. Jackson

dumb teams hire college coaches with no pro experience and lets them control the roster and lets them hire all their old college buddies as assistants. formerly dumb teams learn that wasn't such a good idea and do the opposite. -

desperate teams do desperate things. jets, falcons, and saints would be among the top teams to try. jets are desperate for a vet QB, both falcons and saints were in the watson sweepstakes and saints were even trying to get carr. wouldn't surprise me to see jackson in one of those two towns. -

i've thought all along that this would be the route they take and this might be the only way something happens. Jackson not having an agent is going to make it difficult for anything to get done otherwise. -
Panthers continue to add to the defensive staff
rayzor replied to ncfan's topic in Carolina Panthers
doesn't look like he's got much of a resume, but if evero wants him on the staff...that's good enough for me. -
it has been less and less of an issue over the years. even when we drafted Cam many teams were spending more than half of their snaps from the shotgun or pistol and since then that has become much more commonplace. @Jon Snow is right, though, that it will limit a bit what the offense can do. i just don't think that it will be enough. good OCs will make it work around any limitations. all that said...i think that young will be a fun QB to watch on someone else's team. he'll be good, but i wouldn't want to bank on him staying healthy all season every season or having a long career. dude makes me nervous. i'm not worried about batted balls from him. i'm worried about him getting squashed and mangled.

thanks for giving me a reason to check into you.

would you be opposed to moving back up for Bijan Robinson?

Yeah there are going to be some good options later. -

Are you fine with poor TE play or limited WR play? If we're going to invest in a QB and take it seriously, we're going to have to make pass catchers a priority. I'd like to do better than Chuba, but I'd like even more to give our new QB better targets -

Priority 1) QB Priority 2 and 3) pass catchers (especially TE) Priority 3 and 4) CB and pass rusher -
Carr is a 5-10 year guy. It just doesn't make sense to draft who you hope is a franchise guy this year and sign Carr.
