  1. Anxious to see what it looks like in a true collaboration. Wondering where those guys are who kept on pushing that idea that Rhule didn't have total control over the roster.
  2. Get him. Steal him. Whatever it takes just get him.
  3. Yes. Power arm is nice, but not essential if you can throw it to the right receiver at the right time with the right touch....and the right receiver will always be running the right routes designed around the throwing range of the QB. Gunslingers are fun, but a QB who can dink and dunk and tear apart defenses is pretty fun too. And if that QB is a mobile threat, then watch out.
  4. I'd be stoked for either Young or Stroud. Would not be upset at all. I know it will probably take a serious trade to get into position to get either one, but I'd be ok with that. I'm just tired of waiting for that guy and both of them could be that guy. If we didn't or couldn't move up, I'd be ok with Richardson, but he would take a lot more work to get him where he needs to be. As far as Levis goes....do not want, but if they decide to take him I'd be disappointed but I'd try to be hopeful and cross my fingers that he's not just a bigger jimmy Clausen. Bryce and CJ are the "can't miss" guys in this draft, though
  5. so that's the big issue and reason why he and rhule are too alike? how many games did each win with their QBs? who was able to make it work?
  6. what trends? i mean you make it sound like there's a bunch of similarities that could do serious harm.
  7. lol so they are pretty much the same guy... except one has nearly 30 years of experience at the pro level at all levels and has a ring and has coached several winning seasons as a HC despite having multiple QBs. oof
  8. not trying to sound mean or anything, genuinely curious...but what makes you think that Bieniemy would be better than Reich? I mean he hasn't done that before, has he?
  9. lol i typically waited until our 4th pick to start taking trades and only took them if all the picks were for this year. i'd end up with about 15-20 drafted players consistently. this was the first time i decided to take picks for next year and i wound up with this... https://www.nflmockdraftdatabase.com/user-mock-drafts/2023/user-mock-1139211 not sure if it will link my whole draft but i wound up with CJ Stroud and i didn't really care who after that lol just picked who ever they suggested, but we also got these picks for next year: 1st: 5 (2 from texans, one from san fran, one from raiders, and one from steelers) 2nd: 2 (from houston and seattle) 3rd: 1 (from san fran) 4th: 3 (2 from houston, 1 from seattle) 5th: 1 (from raiders) 6th: 1 (from Houston) 7th: 1 (from raiders) and all i gave up was a 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 2 5ths.
  10. if you are an offensive coach and can't get your offense to click and you aren't managing a good offense, then something is wrong. same with defense. if you come with a defensive background and that's your specialty, then you better make sure that your defense does what it's supposed to do when it's supposed to.
  11. then here is not the place for him. it's going to be reich's offense.
  12. i think that's the issue with most defensive coaches. wilks is/was a really good coach, but he's not going to outscheme anyone. wouldn't have trusted anyone on his staff to do it either. i mean i would trust him to do it more than rhule because he knows the game a lot better, but i just don't trust defensive coaches to be able to outscheme much of anyone. neither fox or rivera could do it. don't think either of them had any interest in doing it and i'm not sure wilks would either. that's just not the mindset of DCs who become HCs. they are more interested in limiting mistakes and trying to coach a hardnose football team than out playing the other coaching staff in a game of chess.
  13. this does not make me happy. don't want him in the division unless he's with us and i only want him with us if we can't get a legit starter out of the draft. he's not a star, but he's as solid a QB as they come and will likely be the best available vet QB this year (assuming Rodgers retires). carr would easily become the best QB in the division and it's not even close.
  14. what smitty talked about with regards to the steelers game was point on. no matter what else happened....he HAD to win that game against the steelers. I mean if WIlks really wanted that job, that was one that he COULD NOT lose, and he did. right or wrong, that was a big no no. it's tepper's team against his old team and we keep getting embarrassed by them...at home. Smith was right, you have to make the boss look good in situations that are important for him. you fail at that and you have failed him and it's hard to come back from that.
  15. probably a lot of how it shook out. i mean they knew anyways the direction they wanted to go, meaning they knew they wanted an offensive minded coach probably last year. i mean when you look at the guys that were in the main running aside from rhule, it was mccarthy, mcdaniels, and bieneniemy. they were looking towards an OC type then. but then they fell for rhule's song and dance and meatballs and went the "CEO" route or whatever nonsense that was. this year, i think not only did they want to go offensive, they wanted to go younger like the hotshot new HCs that we're seeing popping up. the lack of experience rhule had at the pro level and being tired of losing, tepper just wasn't in the mood to take a risk on some unproven commodity and wanted to go offensive and experienced and successful, which they checked off all boxes with reich. they got not just an offensive minded coach, but someone with a good bit of experience and success at all levels of coaching. he definitely had the best record of anyone else we looked at aside from payton (which i don't think was really a realistic possibility anyways). once they interviewed reich and i'm sure his interview was solid and that he showed a lot of confidence and preparedness in what he thought was needed to succeed...it wasn't theory like it was with many of the others, and like it probably was with rhule. you listen to him and you can tell it goes beyond the leadership quality, it's knowledge and experience and a firm grasp of strategy, esp. on what has been the biggest bugaboo for us for several years...QB and offense. he's not a salesman. he's a guy that knows what it takes and is good about communicating it. once they saw that and listened to that, i think it was hard/impossible to go any other way.
  16. how about this debate... should the wings be dry or wet and messy?
  17. i don't care what side of the drums/flats debate you are...you don't say that kind of thing to anyone. "order the boneless wings"..... get that poo out of here.
  18. i'm always happy to eat wings with people who don't prefer drums. more for me. too much work for not enough meat on the flats. y'all can have them.
